Yes
Looking into getting this lens perhaps after a recommendation but the person who told me about it tends to exaggerate greatly.

Any owners here with a sober view of it. I was told its sharp as hell yada yada

In the old days, I had to decide for a mid range portrait lens.
The 135 was on the list, of course… so I tried it along with a
few others and I have chosen the 105 mm ƒ1.8 for the full
figure at closer distance possibility.

I have one.
When I used the 24-85 as my walk around zoom on the D750 it was a useful lightweight, small telephoto.
Now I have the 24-120 F4 I’ve not used it since.
If you are OK with manual focus it is OK for occasional telephoto shots.

Is the IQ up to todays standards or does it show its age ?

To be honest I only ever used it for record shots for a website I supply.
The required images are pretty small so no need to pixel peep.
If I have time in next couple of days I will give it a run out on a tripod and upload them here.

For film, it will be ok. For digital, your heading for lens
profile that does not exist and outdated coatings. Mind
you, I say the same about the lens I chose.

An alternative consideration may be the 105mm f/2.5 AI/AI-S - that lens has a stellar reputation.

I have both the 85mm and 105mm Ai and Ais lenses. They are both wonderful portrait lenses and very sharp indeed.

I had a 135mm 2.8 for a while. Really nice portrait lens on full frame. I'm sure it fails on many modern criteria/measurement but I liked mine. Picked mine up for £30 :)

105mm even nicer again but the price of those has shot up in recent years.

Does that happen to be a certain Youtuber?

Sorry I haven't had time to take images as we have visitors.
I think it is better over shorter distances than long.
The other posts show the quality achievable.
