Anyone on Three?

specifically a contract, can you remember when you started your contract whether you get a choice of when the direct debit comes out or whether it starts when you place your order?

I got a three contract last month. The direct debit was set up for the date i set up the contract but the girl in the sins did say that that could be changed later if i wished. I would give em a call and ask

thats pretty much what i thought, no problems im just being impatiant in regard to getting a new phone and payday

Yes the direct debit is set up when you activate the account. If you are buying from their shop (and possibly online) you can delay the activate day of your contract.
I upgraded my phone a couple of weeks early, but wanted a new number, so took a new contract out ( they had a good deal on that day), but delayed the start by a couple of weeks, so the new one started as the old one finished and the DD continued on with similar date.
