Yes
I'm really fancying getting a bee hive :)

Don`t steal honey whilst naked....

I wish you well, you wouldn`t get me within a mile of it!

My pops had them on an allotment - they didn't live with us. They were fun but I'm glad to be rid of them because we stopped really caring about the honey etc. after moving away from the allotment and it became a bit of a chore.

Really fun prior to that though!

I really ought to find something to post

Is this referring to the "exterminator" written below your user name?

Correct  Thats what I do for a living :D

So, that means you could capture a swarm for me? :D

I think bees are fascinating and would love to keep some. Unfortunately where I live it's just not feasible. Roll on my £66million win tonight.

Cool, so it wasnt that it was simply a time consuming nightmare then. How much honey were you getting?

My parents keep bees. :)

Im guessing the OP was watching BBC 4 tonight. :)

Yes I was :D But we have been thinking about it in a casual way for a while. I live next to woodland and most of my neighbours either grow loads of flowers or veg, and we have a mix of both as well as fruit trees so the variety should produce some nice honey (So I have been told).
Also it does bother me about the decline of bees, I'll dig out an old quote I heard that stated when the bees all die out man will follow quickly behind.

Thanks very much for that, I'll have a good read around this.

Why is it not feasible for you? I'm asking just in case you have thought of something that I havent :)

Erm that not actually what I do with ( to) them :D

Your best bet would be to buy from an established hive that has been "treated" and is "clean"
a lot of bees ( wild ones) carry the Varroa mite which is "quite prolific" and will take out
an entire colony in less than a season. ( although it is treatable)

I live in a block of 10 maisonettes, with no garden. The communal area is a magnet for the local low-life teenagers... you know they type - drink until they vomit everywhere, p*ss against any surface they find, then vandalise their surroundings. A hive wouldn't get peace. Oh and if any of them got stung, the little darlings would create merry hell and the rozzers would take their side as usual.
