Anyone know what this is?

Its a slave sensor for firing off-camera flash from seeing another flash fire. I have an old Pentax version from film days.

Hi Lindsay,
Thanks for that, I can sleep easy now - it's really been bugging me as I've never seen one before. And yes, I particularly like repairing old 35mm SLR's and lenses
