Hello all,

Does anyone know of a compact digital with manual mode ? I'm looking for an older model 8MP or more that I can source through ebay so that I can carry it around on my cycling walking expeditions and not worry too much about it. Any ideas ?

Thanks all.

Have a look at the Panasonic LX range. I've had a couple. They have a manual mode and you can set everything and shoot hyoerfocally and instantly not worring about any delay while it meters and locks focus.

The old Canon models did, like the A650is and A720is, as did the Powershot models, starting from the PowerShot S90 iirc

Thanks everyone for the suggestions much appreciated I'll have a scan through ebay and see what I can find.

Depends how old you want, and what type of compact. You can still find the Sony HX60 and the Panasonic TZ70, both with a 30x zoom, on sale new, so there should be a few second-hand ones around at a more affordable price.

I always liked my Olympus XZ-1 I usually used it in aperture priority but the controls were nice too.
Shot in RAW usually but the jpegs are nice I have a Sony RX 100 iii and I miss the image stabilisation.
