I have been given a LG Viewty Black mobile phone on 3.

Does anyone know how i can get it unlocked so the wife can put her orange sim into it..

your local market or phone shop should be able to do it for a few quid ;)

I didn't think you could unlock 3, if you succeed let us know and listen for the cursing as I've just finished nursing a 3 contract on ebay phones instead of the cast offs in the house. Kids!!!!!

I am planning to unlock my brothers using some OStools, ill post how to do it in the week :)

The last phone I unlocked I just searched it on Google and after a couple of sites that wanted loadsamoney to do it, I eventually found one that gave me a set of free instructions that worked perfectly.

Just type 'unlock LG Viewty' in and see what you get.

At the moment i cannot type anything into it as it wont startup to the main screen.

I will see if i can get it done tomorrow. By a man in the know

Sorry, I might not have been very clear on this. I meant for you to type that into Google on a computer to get instructions not on the phone.:bonk:

You can get the service provider you are currently with to unlock it for you. Yes they charge but sometimes it's better than a Market vendor or an eBay code. If you end up bricking your phone then it would cost you alot more in the longrun!!! My brother did his viewty with his service provider whilst in contract still no problems.....
 
£10 Later and my orange sim card is working perfectly in the LG 3 phone..

Had a Samsung on Orange, and tried a Talk Talk sim and it worked.

Took the phone into Carphone Warehouse, they produced a simcard and tried it first to see if it worked.
 
Well I Never.
I always thought that "3" were slightly different from the likes of 02. Something must have changed coz when I took my old 3 phone to get unlocked I was told that it couldn't be done.
Off to try the other halfs 02 card in my 3 phone.
