Anyone know anything about gas fire fitting?

Too much internet questions here and not enough asking establishing professional engineers about a very serious problem. I don't get how how anyone can fanny about with a gas problem.

Man on the way down says - "Do you know anything about parachutes" passes man on the way up who says "No, you know anything about gas fires".

Bang - bang.

How'd you work that out then?...do you know me or anyone else who has replied?......no, i guess not then.

I think the point was "WTF are you asking on here for when you should be speaking to the bloke who came to sort it"

I was asking on here because I thought there might be chance someone would know why cold air was coming into the room and/or why I could smell gas when it was lit. I'd then be able to be more forceful to the original fiitter rather than having to just lamely agree with his theorys. And sit in a cold room again.
What I need to do is get a different bloke in, Ive rang one but he's busy for a week and meanwhile the fire is not stinking in use thankfully.

Ive also picked up some good advice to get a monoxide detector which I doubt the original fitter bloke would have given. So all in all I tihnk its been a worthwhile exercise even if some others dont.

End of.
