Anyone know any history behind this?

Looks like some sort of old target practice hut for shooting. It's hidden away in the woods not far from a dirt track and if you don't know it was there then you wouldn't find it. I've known about it since I was a kid when my dad took me out for a walk around the area but he doesn't exactly know what the history is. I walk past is all the time when out with the dogs or bike but never really thought about looking into it properly.

It's situated around the Feshiebridge area near Kincraig, Highlands. Lived around here my whole life and I don't even know the history about the area:rolleyes:

I took these pictures a few years ago before I got into photography. I might head along to it with my 70D at some point for some proper pictures. Pretty interesting to have it so close to my house but a bit spooky at the same time haha.

The first picture I have shown the exact location. The other pictures was when I walked right up to it. It's not very visible from the forest track and even if you did notice it you can see it just looks like a grass bank.

It is the target area of an old rifle range.
The mound would have been to protect the people raising and lowering the targets.
That's all about what I know as well. It must have been pretty close range because there's a bunch of trees ruining the line of sight only 10-20 meters away. Unless the trees grew after this was built, but it doesn't look that old to me.

Yes I would agree it looks like a target area. The pulleys I would suggest are for raising and lowering targets

It's a secret guerrilla training camp used by Alex Salmond's freedom fighters in case the referendum doesn't go his way.

Thanks all. It's nice to finally have something to say about it rather than "hidden target practice hut" lol. My kids love going there just like my dad did with me and it's only a ten minute walk.

This forum never ceases to amaze me, the things people know (y)
Indeed. I spent ages on google and couldn't find anything.
