I've been into urban exploring for 3 years now. I currently use a backup, a Kata DR-465i to be precise, and it really fits my needs. Apart from the compartment for the camera could do with being a little bigger. I know they do some bigger backpacks of this model type now but not sure if the lower camera section is much bigger too. I've been thinking of buying a crumpler type shoulder bag. Does anyone else use these? Any suggestions? My main reason for contemplating this change is that I will be going on a trip around Chernobyl & Pripyat soon so will need something I can access whilst standing. Which I like the sound of for exploring as well.

Lowepro slingshot 202AW is what I use, not a massive bag but can get a DSLR and mid zoom plus good compartment side on top.

I have a Kata 3N1-30, which can be changed from a conventionally carried rucksack to a left of right sided sling pack in seconds. This is good for carrying gear about comfortably over a distance, then converting to sling when on site. You can slide it from your back to your front, get your camera out and use the bag as a platform to rest your elbows on while shooting. Depending on your kit Kata make several sizes.
