Anyone here play a musical instrument?

I went hunting for my flute yesterday, I couldn't find it :(

That flute was one of the first things I ever bought with my first pay packet. Cost me £100 which was a LOT!!!! It has been neglected over the years, I left it out on display and it became tarnished :( But one day, I sat down and buffed it to within an inch if its life :D

That's a real shame, I hope you find it. I've actually used mine more for photography recently than playing on...

We gutted the garage not long ago, dumbass here has probably hidden it in a box somewhere :D

And you're right, as soon as I find it, its going straight under the lens

I'll look forward to seeing those. I used it as a small project to help me work out DOF a bit, I posted some of them a while back.

:D you can use either, it really doesn't matter ... actually... hmmm

Drums and Guitar for me.. just mess about with both to be honest. Although the drum kit is in my cupboard now that i'm back living with the folks. Also I have a harmonica that I haven't a clue how to play but you can use it for good effect in the car when you just want to make a racket! Oh and a keyboard that I never use but do rake out occasionally to remind myself that I don't know how to play it.. Although I have mastered the song "Demo".

Keyboards here.
Well, I should say 'keyboard' as I do everything these days via an ageing Roland D-5 digital synth used as a master keyboard and the rest is done by cubase and soft-synths.
Once upon a time many moons ago I had a good collection of anologue synths that would now be worth a small fortune.

If only I had kept them and the dinky / corgi toys I had as a kid, I would be quite a wealthy man by now!

What synths did you have, hashcake? In the 70's I was a real synth geek :geek:! As a teenage proggie I fancied myself as the next Keith Emmerson or Rick Wakeman (except without the talent :D) and I lusted after a Mini Moog with a passion. Couldn't afford one at the time (although I did stretch to an ARP Axxe) so had to carry on lusting. A couple of decades later I finally picked up a beauty on ebay, what a sound! That was another thing crossed off my bucket list!

Flashy

Drums grade 6 doing grade 8,

keyboard and a bit of guitar

oh and grade 3 snare drum and done a small bit of timpani

I only got up to grade 7 on my tenor horn, got 92pc :D.

Gave up on grade 8, as i went to uni when i would have been finishing grade 8.

So i did grade 7, and called it a day. But my study pieces for my grade 7 (Trinity) were the grade 8 pieces for associated board exams.

That piece was 'variations on a welsh theme'. It was a REALLY REALLY good piece, and i got a clap from the examiner once i had finished playing it. It's one of those pieces where you either nail every note, or you mess it up completly!

What synths did you have, hashcake?

Now you are asking!
I'll do my best from memory.

Minimoog
OSC Oscar.
Prophet 5
ARP Oddessey
Roland Juno 106
Oberhiem OB-X
Jen SX-1000

There were also a couple of more obscure makes that I owned but I can remember them for the life of me.
Back in the day when I was in the electronics industry, I would hunt around for broken synths and fix them myself.
I so wanted to be the next Gary Numan lol.

I'm not going to mention the vast amounts of money I spent on the digital (need a science degree to be able to programe) synths I also owned because in my heart, they was never as good as the anologue kit.
