Anyone here do ground level aerial photography

Depending on what type of work you are looking for, using cherry pickers would be a good starting point.

Get one for a day, visit various locations to get promo shots which cover almost all bases and see if there would be interest in aerial photography for you.

A vehicle mount is great, but to be honest unless you are doing a lot of it I can't see there being much point in outlaying that sort of money in hope of work. Better to start out with cherry pickers and move on to a vehicle when you have a steady stream of work coming in.

You can get in pretty much any location with them and set a tripod up so they'd be a great starting point.

Quite an annoying website that.

Flying Cam http://www.flying-cam.com/news.php are the company that were used in James Bond, Harry Potter, Mission impossible etc. I know they have a sort of autopilot setup to assist the flying and get much more stable images, but the pilots still need to be really skillful.

Only down the road from me too..

I dont have a trailer licence though. I can drive a 40T truck, but Im not allowed to to a diddy trailer!

Hello Tom

I agree 100% with Mat's advice.

The mast we use is a 15 metre Clark QTX15 fitted with a Jarcom 360 degree power panner head.

We favor Canon G6 and G9 cameras because canon's software allows full control of camera and live preview of images before down loading to our on-board computer system.

A lot of our equipment has been designed and built by myself and if you have any specific queries I would be pleased to offer advice.

As regards purchasing equipment, google Elevated Photography or Mast photography and see what is available.

Avoid the cheap push up mast systems in windy weather they are an accident waiting to happen.

Elevated photography is growing in popularity in the UK.but very slowly especially with the credit crunch.

Mast manufactures claim loads of money can be made with very little effort. This is far from true. You can see many systems for sale on ebay where people failed to make a go of it.

Photo Elevate have been trading for nearly five years and it has taken that long to get established and start to make a real profit.

A lot of hard work and money has been spent promoting and perfecting the business, Learning the best ways to utilize the equipment and manipulate photo's taken using Photoshop to provide our high quality service.

If you are interested in starting up a similar business in your area, it would pay to do some research to test local estate agents, schools, building companies, local authorities etc. to see if they would be interested in your service.

If you do decide to go ahead make sure you buy the right equipment and don't expect overnight success.

Those that stick with it and work hard will succeed.

Hope this is of help to you.

Regards

Dave
