It was due for immanent release straight after Adobe Raw 4.1, but im still waiting and it seems to have dropped off the radar. Anyone got any rumours or info? I really want it so I can start shooting in raw.:(

Last I heard it was still being tested. There was an assumption that it would quickly follow ACR4.1 but Adobe did deny that would happen on some blogs, etc.

Looks like 1.1 will be out very soon. Reports of people who purchased and downloaded today getting 1.1. People who bought v1.0 have also been able to download 1.1 by using the link from their purchase email. I tried the same with the Rawshooter email but got v1.0 instead. Trial version is currently unavailable. Fingers crossed the update is available tomorrow....

myself and my dad both tried it and found it quite poor for dealing with large amounts of pictures, very slow* and painful and i feel the editing side of things was poor (sharpening particularly) so many different tabs to find what you want just think editing is much better done in CS3, so it was like adding another program step for nothing. I use Windows to put pics in folders, Bridge to organise/keyword and metadata and CS3 to edit.

*I'm not using a slow PC either

Yeah thats a fair point about it being slow! it does stutter a little bit. I find it really useful for minor tweaks in exposure, curves and levels, which i have found i can do quicker than in CS3, but then if i need to edit further (like burn and dodge) then you have to do it in photoshop anyway! would be nice to add that feature into lightroom!!

I guess its all down to whatever people find easier, everyone has their own workflow that suits them best

Woho! End of the week it is then.

I absolutely love Lightroom, as it really has improved my workflow. It does however need an update. the main thing for me, is that I still don't have RAW support for the D40x. Ive got it in CS3 with the Adobe RAW 4.1 release, but not in Lightroom yet. There is a major memory leak bug in there somewhere. Quite often Lightroom will slow right down and freeze. The sharpness controlls are next to useless at the moment. Ive not seen a problem, but quite a few peple report issues when dealing with large amount of pictures. There are a few other minor things id like changed, but I can wait for now.

I installed it late last night. When I tried to convert my database it choked saying there was a problem but the 2nd try I left the PC to get on with it (rather than trying to run 3 other apps at the same time) and it was fine.

First impression is that there's a good improvement in speed and the app is much more repsonsive now. Early tests show the sharpening is much better but probably the most useful change is the new catalogue system so I can now easily split the database into separate sections for jobs, etc.

Cheers pxl8. How big is your Library and how long did it take to convert? As I say, the main thing for me is the D40x support. Anything else is a bonus.:)

I think there's around 18,000 shots in the library at the moment - took about 15mins to convert it.

There are some nice changes in the 1.1 version :)

I couldn't decide wether or not it was more responsive due to the update or following a complete rebuild of my library as it corrupted on me just before installing the update, good to hear the app itself is quicker!

I installed the update and it said my library was corrupt. Great! :bang:

Not a recent one no :( I'm tempted to reinstall Lightroom to 1.0 and try it.

How are you rebuilding it? It says that adjustments aren't saved outside of LR in 1.0 so do we loose all that?

Hmm, that doesn't sound promising. In what way was it trashed grumpybadger? Just coming up corrupt? What are you doing, restoring an old one?

It came up as corrupt and I am just reimporting everything into a new database. So, all the processing is lost and I will have to go back if needed... Not a happy bunny

How do you two have the database saved? As one database, or as .xmp files? Im just wondering is its possible to save all the database settings into xmp files, then update lightroom.

I had the corrupt database message as well, but when I ran it a second time it all worked fine. Also the second time I opened the library from within Lightroom (File > Open Library) and imported it that way - dunno if that's what made the difference?

I did a quick test of creating a new 1.1 catalogue and imported an image that I know I converted to B&W in 1.0. It loaded in with the adjustments and metadata. Thankfully I had the option to automatically write XMP data out set. I think I should be able to rescue my adjustments.

hmmm, I never considered the database held all the adjustment data, it was late last night when I installed this so I guess I've lost it all  :bang:

I must remember to backup my database

argh! Seems I've lost random keywords to a good number of images as well as the edit history, going to have to sift thought my library :bonk: Ah well its a good excuse to play with 1.1 I suppose (looking on the bright side).

Im all updated with no problems at all. Time to start playing with new features.:)

Ditto. Was quite worried after reading the posts on here but it all went smoothly. Liking the sharpening / clarify additions so far. Takes a bit from photoshop workflow which is good.

Yeah. Nice to see a bit of noise handling in there as well (Although I doubt it will take over from the high pass filter technique for my better pics) Performance seems to be better as well, ie copying and pasting settings felt a lot quicker. Overall, nothing ground breaking but certainly some nice improvements in there. and I can finnaly shoot in RAW.:)
