Anyone have a Sunpak 120J with external powerpack

If so, has your charger got an america 2 pin or english 3 pin?

I have one but I cannot get the battery to charge, and I dont know if its the battery or the charger thats at fault

When I first plugged it in the red light came on the charger, so I left it for a few hours, but its completely dead and doesnt power the flash at all. When the battery is in the external pack, does it light up the bulb on the pack as soon as you flick the switch?

These are so old, I have no idea what to do with this now, as I cannot find a replacement battery...

i cut the wire with the red adapter off the battery,, soldered to a 6 AA battery holder.. and now use it with eneloops

Hmm, whats the recycle times with that setup compared to my external TR2 pack?

the same.. its just using 6 AA @ 1.2V each. giving the same 7.2V battery ..

Now I am confused! The battery I have is 510v!

arr mine is the TR-PAK II.. comes with a 7.2V battery.. and a HV cable into the sunpak

You might need to get a transformer for the charger to use on a UK power socket. My friend had to use one to charge up his Quantum battery and US plug he had.

I have the 510v battery pack for mine. Mines multo voltage Im sure.

Unfortunately, the battery in mine has long since given up holding a charge.

You can get them new for about £100 or so from the US, apparently they are still being used in Geiger counters.

Well, after much faffing around I found out that the charger was completely dead, so I got a 7.2v charger for an RC car and that has worked fine. I gave the battery a 3 hour charge and its firing great

Its recycling well and seems to be holding its charge, which is great

I also had to make my own household to jack sync cable so that I can fire it using my rf602's which is working a treat (thank god)
