If so, can you just have a quick look at the clamp mechanism for me plz!

Mine came apart in my bag after being loosened off a bit too much probably. It fell out of the bag into the grass, I picked everything up (as I thought...) and put it back together again and all seemed fine.

However, I tried to use it the other day and now it wont tighten up onto the ball enough to stay rigid and hold the camera in place at all!

I looked at the clamp set up and now I think that there was a part that I must've missed when it fell into the grass. I've got a feeling there was a 'spacer' or washer between the two little pegs where I've circled below.

Can you just confirm that this is the case on yours....at least then it'll explain what's wrong, and I can see if I can find something to bodge it up so it'll clamp properly again.

Thanks if you can help.

I don't have an Ultrapod, but looking at your picture, it seems that your suspisions are correct. If a section of tube or a thick washer is placed over the area indicated by the circle, then the clamping force will be transferred to the ball.

I've just bought the Ultrapod & had a quick look but it seems the design has changed - the screw & pivot are now separate, perhaps to resolve the problem you've had here, sorry I couldn't be any more help

I agree with KeithH, Rex if you are stuck I've got some hard plastic tubing you can have (no charge) 15 & 20mm dia.

Thanks for the comments and your offer Steep, unfortunately the diameter of the 2 pegs is only about 5mm, plus there's hardly any gap between the pegs and the larger diameter centre piece - it looks like I might be struggling to get something to fit in exactly.

Looking at pics of the UltraPod in ads. it looks like the legs should go in the area circled in the original poster's photo rather than where the screw goes through. I'm only guessing though - not seen one in real life.
