Anyone got any suggestions - (stolen camera)

just hope it works out
be a shame if a helping hand was treated badly

oh i get you now, hope you get it back :(

I've just managed to get hold of him on the phone , it's been posted today so should be back tomorrow

Nothing received today so he's not sent it special delivery as I requested despite him saying he had yesterday

Hope you get it sorted Darren and its just a misunderstanding or late post

I too am watching this with interest. It was a very generous thing for Wack61 to do, I hope its not thrown back in his face.

Hopefully its back today!

Nothing received today either, i've just left a message on his mobile so we'll see if I get a reply, it's very generous of the members that have offered to chip in but it's my problem so I couldn't accept any money.

I'm hoping he's just lax with other peoples property and i'll get it back eventually

Very poor show this. Hope it doesn't put wack61 off being such a gent in future. I fear it will though.

It hasn't put me off, this is without a doubt one of the friendliest forums on the internet.

Good luck Darren, i hope it all ends well!

With the greatest respect to Wack, this thread has been tidied and will be closed for the time being.

Until legal advice has been sought by Wack (or if the camera turns up first) we think it best that no further public discussions take place on TP, as however well-intended it may hinder the return of his goods or his legal stance.

Good luck Wack, we look forward to a favourable outcome, and well done TP members for the support and community spirit you have demonstrated over this affair'

The D40 was returned yesterday with a note of apology ,I have no idea why he was so reluctant to send it back but it's in the same condition it was sent out in so i'm just happy that it's back.

I'd like to thank all the members that contributed to it's return by contacting his father on facebook and also the members that offered financial help to replace it.

This is without a doubt one of the best forums on the internet so I really hope this hasn't put anyone off lending or trading their gear.

Thats great news bet your glad its home safe and sound

Thats is good news. As you say, i hope it doesn't put people of helping others in the future. This site really is unique in the way people are so quick to help out complete strangers.

so glad to hear it's been sorted
how odd that it took so long
all in working order?
extra 1,000,000 on the shutter count?
dust bunnies?

big relief for you
and well done for offering in the first place

 Glad it's back, well done TP and blooming well done Wack lending his gear out like that.

It all looks OK, I don't think it's been used much 200-300 pics at most, I think it had around 1300 on it and now it's 1550, he was probably too busy on honeymoon to take pictures :D

hee hee didn't leave the memory card in ?!?

If he did, no running image recovery software on it :bat:

Glad to hear its all been sorted and every is ok. This could of gone on a lot longer and a worse outcome.

Glad this all turned out ok, I know I wouldn't have wanted to have had my parents telling me off for something like this - that would be a total ground-swallowing moment!

Glad it's all sorted and your camera is back in seemingly it's original state, a much better outcome than I think most of us expected.

Alls well that ends well as they say....

Pleased to hear you got it back. As you say this is one of the best if not the best forums on the net.

Glad you've got it back - just shame it took so long and the OP needed a parental boot in the rear before managing to show you a bit of consideration.

Brilliant ending, if anything, it's given me more optimism that the generous acts of many people here can continue, knowing that everyone rallies together when needed to bring to a satisfactory conclusion, on the strength of this event, I wouldn't think twice if I could help a fellow member.
So pleased I joined here:thumbs:

LOL - no matter how old you are, no-one likes being told off by their parents :D
Top result.

Congrats on getting the camera back, and glad it isnt damaged or lost as feared:thumbs:

Yes really glad it all turned out ok in the end, shame it took so much hassle to get it back, but at least a happy ending for you. Wayne
