Anyone got a Tamrac Adventure 9?

Does anyone have one of these and can show me some pictures of how their kit is slotted in?

I'm interested in it but the few reviews I've found seem to suggest that a lot more kit can be fitted in that is suggested by the offical pics on the Tamrac website.

on the left is a sigma 10-20 and 105 macro, in the middle a d300 with 17-55 and an sb600 right at the bottom arse end up (wouldn't normally carry it there though) and on the right is an 80-200 but i normally carry another lens on top of it in a pouch so i've put the 50mm on there for you to see ala size comparison then t'other gubbins goes in the top section and laptop in the back

My only other concern with this bag was how "secure" the camera compartment was. Is it just the zipper that holds it closed and prevent everything falling out or are there additional straps to secure it?

two small squeeze release straps and one big one, but tbh either those or the zips would hold it on it's own :)
 
Ah ok cool, was just a bit concerned it was only the zip taking the strain as they can "go" :)

Overall, how happy are you with the bag? Any specific positives or negatives?

I have an Adventure 9...it's really handy if you need to pack other stuff in the top section (food, coat etc for a day out). Mine currently holds a D300 with 70-300mm VR, my D40x with Tamron 17-50, a couple of small primes and a flash quite easily.

Have to say though it's a bit "faffy" getting stuff in and out. So not so good for on the fly shooting, as you have to take the bag off and put it down somewhere in order to access your kit. Quite secure though, and reasonably showerproof.
 
I have one too and agree with pretty much agree with everything Wantan says. It is a bit "faffy" getting stuff in and out, and wouldn't be a good bag to get if you need quick access to your gear. A friend of mine was looking into bags recently and apparently they now do one with side access, so might be worth having a look at that on their website.

For what I do shooting rallies, walking around the forests its ideal, can fit all my gear in the bottom, then food for the day and other bits and bobs in the top. I use the laptop compartment for water proofs, and always leave them in their so I don't forget them! The zip for the camera compartment is pretty heavy duty and I never bother with the extra big strap or two little straps to secure it.

However I disagree that its shower proof. Mine has been been in few showers and it has soaked through, not the end of the world as I just take all the kit out and dry it all out when I get home. Easily solved by buying a waterproof cover, something I keep meaning to get...
