If so...I need your help please.

[warning may be slightly depressing]

My Great-Aunt passed away yesterday, and she had commented a while ago that she would like her ashes scattering where she grew up.
Now Nan, [her sister] could take us to this place! But cant tell you exactly where it is [and nan cant exactly take us, cos she's in a wheelchair, and only has one leg! :)]

Anyway, there used to be a farm called Roundfield Farm, and Ive been infromed its between Eastwood and BlackShaw Head.
Ive tried googling it, but nothing is really coming up.

I just wanted to know if the place Roundfield Farm is still there - and if it is accessible by road. Cos apparently it used to be a 1.5mile walk from road, or accessible by landrover. lol

If you can either reply to this post...or PM me I would be super greatful..

Thanks in advance!

sent you the link i found

Thanks.

This is a bit about it...I would be grateful if someone could give my any further advice and help on this one.

You are still on Knotts Road, used by horse and cart to bring milk down from Hartley Royd Farm until a landslip blocked the road in 1947. Don't be tempted to take a short cut up the hillside, keep to the track.

As you round the first bend on the open hillside you can see the remains of Roundfield Farm on the skyline opposite. This is south facing, it has not been renovated and yet access from above would not be too difficult once a drainage problem has been solved. Around the second bend the hamlet of Shore comes into view with its lovely, old Baptist Chapel. This is another listed building, but the roof has collapsed

Given a rough idea of the area it is in maybe a call to the local history society may give you a result. The county/local library may be able to point you in the right direction for their number.

This map shows Hartley Royd Farm.

Don't know if that helps, narrows it down a bit I should think

Happy New Year, sorry about your loss.

Chris

PS and this link is to a picture of the Shore Baptist Chapel which is now converted to a home apparently. Just so you recognise it when you find it!

I'ts raining so I can't work this morning and I'm bored.

From what I can figure out from the Evening Courier walk and looking at a combination of Google Earth and Ordnance Survey maps I think the ruins of Roundfield Farm are these ones (in the middle).

The same location on the OS maps is labeled Roundfield.

Eastwood is a mile or two to the East and Blackshaw head is a few miles to the North East, you can see them both on Google maps if you zoom out.

Rich...
