OK here goes, long shot maybe, but do not like motorway services! We are going to walk part of Hadrians Wall next Wed, 4th July. we will be turning off the M6 at Carlisle to call at Brampton.
Does anyone in that area know a good cafe open for breakfast around 0730-0800 ish on or near the A69?
Thanks in advance!

I'll ask me auntie - she lives that end of Carlisle

I live there and unfortunetly although there is 5 excellent cafes
Off the wall ,behind Cranston butchers is highly recommended they all sort of open at 9-930am as there are more cafes rather then drop in breakfast establishments

Lanercost priory has a good cafe but again after 9am
Birdoswald visitor centre has a cafe and your could park your car tree and walk down to
Gills and.over the bridge
Lovely area to walk I've done it many times form cawfields along the wall

At that time of day mcdonalds at the top junction 40 at Kingstown is open from 6am

Thanks! we are going through lanercost estate (walking) so a coffee will be good there! (also Birdoswald looking good for a stop!) wanted somewhwere a little earlier really.

If you come off M6 at Jcn 43 (A69), and head towards Carlisle, there is a big Tesco at the next set of traffic lights. Handy for filling up, and does have a Costa inside which opens at 8:00am. There is a Toby Carvery next door that does "unlimited" breakfasts - but that doesn't open until 9:00.

Neither of those would be my choice I must say, and can only agree about Lanercost Priory - lovely cakes.

Regards,

White

PS Have a good trip.

Thanks White! Looks like we will be using the Priory no matter what happens, was hoping for a small mcafe or a mobile bacon butty wagon!

Looking forward to it, will be our 3rd trip up there walking the wall.

Hi. If you want a good fry up come of m6 at j42 there is a good cafe in the truckstop behind the bp station open from 6 o clock i think. Head south down A6 for 50yds and park in front of the cafe.

No problem. There are a few cafes around and this one seems handy for you and is one of the better ones. Nice haggis with the breakfast yum yum!

Well we went to the cafe as sugested George, great breakfast! portions certainly were not skimpy! Enjoyed it so much we stopped on our way back for coffee & cake! Thanks once again George!
Wish our walk along Hadrians Wall went a bit better though, peed down most of the day, and one of our group had low blood pressure so had to finish earlier than planned. But, heyho, managed a few piccys to mark the day, nothing special due to the weather though, mostly with film on the Oly Trip.

Glad to hear you enjoyed your breakfast Barry and hope your friend is feeling better. Put it in the diary for the next visit.:)
