The railway museum isn't far from the station... funnily enough... Station seems the only place that has sensible parking charges in the middle of York. It's £7 all day if you get there after 9.30 am. Otherwise it's the park and rides. That's free but it doesn't mention bus ticket cost.

I probably won't be arsed but I shall keep an eye on this thread just in case I can :)

Take a fold up bike in the boot of the car....;) Free Parking.

There are a number of Park & Rides around York, may be worth considering if you are driving ? Google should throw up the details.

I haven't mentioned this to Mrs R yet, but provided we're not still buying one daughter or another a car, or dashing up to Edinburgh to view Grandson Walking (!), I'm really hoping to come. I think if I leave around 7 something from Coventry I can get to York just after 10... failing that, the next train gets in around 10:40ish...

Bother. Daughter not yet bought car, which means my involvement almost certainly stretches to next weekend. Not looking likely I'll be able to come, now! :(

If you get up really early and leave a note just saying "The car is playing up so have taken it to the garage, not sure when it will be ready but I'll see you later" This should give you plenty of time to come to York

I'm due to arrive in York station just before 9, so shall we meet up in the starbucks at the station until 10 ish?

Can anyone who is attending, send me their mobile number for ease of communications on the day?

I think I've found a suitable establishment...

Do you still have my number Rob?

Anybody used this place? http://yorkcameramart.co.uk/ Worth a visit?

@ped Are you still based in York? Will you be dropping by?

Hi mate

Only just seen this!! Typical - got a lot to do on Saturday but I could probably get away for a little while. I'll see what I can do.

Parking - try using the 'Park Inn' hotel in the city centre, £5 for 4 hours or £8 longer than that, expensive but convenient

Be great if you can make it, I'm sure we'll be testing out some of York's finest hostelries.

OH dear what a disappointment for me I voted for a little later. I would have loved to photograph York.

Maybe next time. have a great day guys. :)

I'm not going to be able to make it this time; as we're going to the Photography Show next weekend (and since the NEC is practically next door to York*) we're intending to go there when we leave Birmingham. Have a good time there.

* OK, "next door" might be stretching it, but when you've driven up from the south coast it seems like it.

Afraid I have only just seen this and Im working tomorrow. Love York too!
Anything York area and North of York in the future I will try to come along. Keep me posted :)

Have a great meet, guys. Sorry:shifty: my parental duties will keep me away... :(:sulk::banghead::grumpy:

On my way. It would appear there are two 5:30's in a day, who knew?

After a series of missed buses and trains, I'm on the way in to York, should be there in 25 mins or so

I'm in the Starbucks.

Just coming into York.

You were missed folks, but only a bit :) York is a great destination, it was a good day and great to see old f&c friends, the weather was kind, the Hooley found a great pub for us to have lunch in, the aptly named House of the Trembling Madness, lots of old ruins and a wander around the railway museum. An excellent way to spend a day. Bring on the s*** museum tour

Hope you all had a good day in my home City, I've been down in Portsmouth this weekend with my Son so missed you all. The Trembling House of Madness is always a popular venue. Really nice choice of beers in there and it's a very friendly atmosphere. Looking forward to seeing some pictures of York on here !

Yep, an excellent day out, much fun and laughs. :D
