I need to buy some software and it's cheaper here than most of the usual suppliers, but you know the old adage about 'if it's too good to be true….... A quick google using their name hasn't suggested there will be problems, but some of you are better at spotting dodgy operations than I am. The software is for business use, so important to get it above board.

Their website: http://www.techsaversoutlet.com

Cheers gents.

Putting postcode into Google earth shows a residential property, phone number in U.S.A, website registrant located in Texas and servers in Australia, terms and conditions refer to personal checks (rather than cheques) and they are accepted in U.S dollars only, refers to 'sales tax' rather than VAT, no mention of Distance Selling Regulations etc etc
Doesn't mean they re not a genuine business, but personally there are too many risk factors for me to buy anything.

The only thing here that would put me off would be the residential address.

Texas is in America, checks is the yank spelling of cheque, US states have sales tax, not VAT, distance selling regulations is an EU law and has nothing to do with US companies.

Servers in Australia is not so strange. Hosting companies can have servers all over the world.

However the website shows a UK address. Have you google that. It could be a virtual office address which would ring alarm bells. It sounds to me like a US company trying it on as a UK company.

As above, they could be legit, but risky. I'd stay away.

I'm pretty sure the address is residential. I send an email query asking whether the software was the UK version and about a VAT receipt, but didn't have a reply before leaving the office.
