Hi has anyone ever bought Canon refurbished stuff from eBay, from the official canon eBay seller?
What exactly is refurbished on a lens?

do you have a link to the ebay auction, or are you afraid that someone may buy the lens before you?
A Refurbed lens may just have needed a clean, maybe one of the bits of glass inside it was damaged and replaced. There are so many possible definitions of 'Refurbished'

Are the glass bits called optics? You can tell im a noob HAHA!

I originally bought my 350d refurbished. In short it didn't work. Kept switching itself off. Refurbished could be mean it's been sent back...they've switched it on..yep, that looks OK...send it out again.

I sent it back and paid full price elsewhere..

I bought a 400D a couple of years ago, it looked brand new, came in a Jessops promotion box so presumably the promotion ended.

Anyway, I've had no problems and recently moved on to a 7D

As above but it was a 350D. They can also be ex demo models, returns etc and are fully checked over by Canon before being resold. You get a guarantee as well.

There head office is in shannon ireland.

i got a 1000d of them a few years ago , both the body and lens were faulty no problem with getting a refund though.

I know many on here have purchased from them without an issue , i think its just pot luck if you get a good or bad one .

I've also been tempted by the canon refurb store on eBay but I always wonder why they are on there. I know a few people who have bought items from there mainly lenses and they have been good purchases.

Think that shop is run by DigitalRev, some have left good feedback and others :nono:

It is run by Digital River I believe not DigitalRev.

I have bought from them twice, once was a 70-300DO which they made a mistake on the pricing of and it looked brand new. Second purchase was a G7 that looked spotless apart from the box being a bit bashed.

There are many good and bad reviews of them. Just be careful as sometimes things go for more than a new non-refurb would cost. There have been rumours in the past of shill bidding.

Bought my first 400D as a refurb from that very vendor on ebay.

Looked and felt as-new with a completely sealed set of accessories and materials with it plus a full year's warranty. If you can get it at a decent discount off new then I'd say go for it :)

refurb can mean a whole range of things, something not working and repaired, ex demo, returned within the 30 day period with no fault etc etc

I bought a 40d kit from them 2/3 yrs ago saved myself something like £200, came boxed just like a new one 12mth warranty, not a mark on it and have had no problems at all.

Just to put another 'ok' vote in there, I got a 400d refurb from the Canon eBay shop a few years back, without any problems.

Wouldn't hesitate to look there again for kit.

Bought a 50D from there for well over £150 less than "new" It arrived with 101 actuations and looked brand spanking.
Bought a Canon SX1 IS and again like new, apart from some white powder that seemed to come from the lens barrel sometimes.....
And I also bought a little canon compact from them about 6 years ago and its going strong to this day.

Wouldnt hesitate to use again.

I bought my 20D from there back in the day and have also had a few compacts too.

My apologies to DigitalRev, I most definitely got the name wrong, but it is rather similar

Just one more positive vote for them- bought a 10-22 lens off their Ebay site about a year ago- the box was very much the worse for wear but the lens didn't even have finger marks on it and appeared brand new, and works perfectly. Would not hesitate buying from them again.

looks ok that site im looking to get myself a good printer, might try from there.
