Yes
I have never liked the taste of alcohol in any drink whatsoever.

I have often wished that do like alcohol, especially as in wine because I am missing out on tasting and enjoying all the different wines there are out there.
Mrs G enjoys a bottle of wine and likes trying different ones, so there I am drinking my boring J20, Coke, or Pepsi while she tries out yet another wine and remarks on how nice it is.

For the majority that do, I envy them as I am definitely missing out on one of life's pleasures.

Needless to say I always end up as the driver on nights out with friends.

Anyone else feel the same way as me?.

Re the hangover cure thread , I obviously never need a cure, this was summed up by a mate of mine a few years back, when he said I am never ever going to feel any better on the day than how I feel in the morning

I detest wine, I haven't drunk any alcohol in about 20 years, never drank that much when before anyway. Don't have any use for the stuff and don't understand the need for it in others.

im only 21 and i dont like alcohol very much. I like beer but any spirit will make me sick and wine is touch and go, a glass it ok but anymore and i just dont like the taste.

Im a lightweight it takes a fair bit to get me drunk but the taste of spirits makes me gag

I'm the opposite, I can do spirits but not beer at all. I'm only 18 and I'm already bored of alcohol... I don't really drink any more. My drinking lasted less than a year, so I'm hoping my body has been left unharmed!

I enjoy the odd wine and beer here and there. I only stick to certain brands though because I like the taste, it's refreshing. But then again I like extreme dark chocolate (70%+), olives, sprouts and other strange tasting things. Then there is the health benefits to wine if you drink sensibly.

I simply do not like alcohol at all, maybe it is because I am sweet toothed, consequently I have had friends insisting on me trying different drinks ie. sweet wines, sweet stouts, etc. I don't even like the so-called alcohol free drinks.

I honestly believe I am missing out on the pleasures of drinking wine, as for getting drunk, well I do not consider I am missing out on anything there!!.

I don't like the taste of alcohol either, but then there are some alcoholic drinks I do quite like. Sweet Cider is the only thing I can drink in any large quantity, and that is because the alcohol taste is masked. Oddly I do like Southern Comfort though - not sure why on that one :p

But I don't go into the heavy drinking thing. Only ever been 'drunk' once in my life, have been 'merry' many times, but only loosing balance style drunk once, and it wasn't fun, so decided no more of that.

What's that pear cider called? That's nice.

I don't like cider either.

I do admit to having been drunk once before in my life though. It was on a night out with my mates when they managed to get enough drink down me to get me drunk, the only recollection I have of the night was being sprawled across the bonnet of a taxi and being lifted bodily by the owner and flung to the ground, the hangover lasted more than just one day......... maybe that is what put me off alcohol for good:lol:

i never really drink now, used to when younger but now i would rather do without hangovers and losing one day of a two day weekend because of it

never drink wine unless on holiday and its free, mind you it doesnt taste nice at all but free is free lol

I don't drink at all, can't stand the taste of it. Had a few sips as a kid and never bothered with it - also can't afford to spend on it - much the same as ciggies.

So my vice is pop......

Another one

I like alcohol a lot. Beer, spirits, wine, cider. Bring it on! I could bath in that ****!

I dislike alcohol.

The morning after ;)

Put me down as an alcohol hater. I just cannot stand the taste or the smell of the stuff. Nor do I like spirits. To me, wine is just a form of vinegar that's not quite matured.
I just can't figure out why people go out and drink and drink and drink loads of the stuff only to throw it all back up and end up feeling crap for it the next day. :gag:

Either you've got loads of money left from having not bought any rounds, or the guys were taking your bag off you and stealing out of your purse. Either way it sounds like you're getting the first round in.

Mine's a bottle of Bombay Sapphire.

Don't do spirits, don't do red wine apart from to cook with. Only drink lager as a final straw

I like a glass of white with food, or a couple of pints of ale on a night out - its hard to drink so much you throw up with ale, you get too bloated to get stupidly drunk

Its inconsiderate people like you who are doing me out of a job.Frankly I consider it your moral duty to consume vast quantities of alcohol and drugs thus keeping me in gainful employment as an Addictions Specialist.
Start drinking now-----------------------PLEASE.
Pete.

I've never really been a fan of it and probably could count on one hand the amount of times I take a drink throughout the year.

I do think I'm missing out with wines too and I have tried to like wine but it's just all horrible strong tasting vinegar and yes I have tried quite a wide variety of wines before and to me it all just tastes the same.

Best job title ever.

How often does that get misconstrued?

Thats the short version and yes you are right----the only problem is that I think its a case of "physician heal thyself".
Pete.

The first time I had absinthe I had it twice, once in two different pubs at the start of a student pub crawl, back in the day. Woke up the next morning in the grounds of the campus with a whole roll of duck tape wrapped around my head. Possibly one of the most painful experiences I've ever endured.

Now your Avatar makes sense.:)

You were lucky it was your head.........it could have been much worse

I drink, and I sometimes wish I didn't but it's hard not drinking, especially when your out with friends who all drink, and I admire that you don't drink to be honest Galaxy. Although while I do enjoy a drink I can't just sit at home and get shedded for no good reason, and because of that I don't drink all that much, but when I do I don't hold back. I'm a lot fussier these days about what I drink too. I can't just go and get blind drunk on anything. When I drink I drink for the pleasure of drinking, not to get wasted...95% of the time at least!

On the flip side, I work with a guy who's approaching 40 and has never touched a drop, and again I have a great deal of respect for him. He;s happy just watching everybody else just get wrecked and then laughing his ass off at them the next day :D

I like alcohol, but I hate its aftereffect ;)
Have you seen any Russians who don't drink some vodka?
(if to be honest, I try some alcohol about once for two or three months)

I am a drinker but as the years have gone by my tolerance to over-indulgence has dwindled - this weekend I got through a bottle of Stella and a glass of Shiraz whereas a year ago it would have been a bottle of Shiraz and a glass of Stella ;)

Something sweet ?
How about a nice nip of home made sloe gin?
Now don't get me wrong here I HATE GIN! but a nice little nip of the sloe stuff, from a hip flask,
on a cold winters day's excursion warms you up right down to your boots
Its gotta be the home made stuff mind not the shop bought stuff

Tried it Chris, as gin is the only spirit Mrs G likes we made some when we discovered sloes were plentiful around here but I did not like it.

When we go out I am stuck with J20, failing that Pepsi or Coke but has to be bottled, not that flavoured carbonated water they pass off in the bars that more often than not is flat.

Now you won't get an arguement about that from me Mal
TBH my alcohol intake has dropped over the last couple of years
and I have no idea why, ( not that I was a heavy drinker by any stretch of the imagination)
I used to love a bottle of wine with a sunday roast, But not any more
Pernod was a real favorite and I hardly touch it any more
If I go down the pub its coke ( as above) 9/10 times.
I wonder if there is a cure for this  answers on a post card please :D

not a massive drinker myself, dont like wine, and really dont think im missing anything with it, if they taste naff what are you missing.

have you tried ameretto? most popular brand is disaronno. mix it with coke and tastes like a cherry bakewell tart.

personally i drink vodka or ameretto, but just have to make sure the quantities are right, as i dont like it too strong, and get some strange looks from barmen sometimes when they ask how much coke and you say fill it up!!

Have you seen any Russians who don't drink some vodka?
Yes, my girlfriend :p she prefers Baileys or Plymouth gin though :D

I like alcohol in general but it doesn't like me, if I have more than maybe 3-4 units then I'll be ****ing through the eye of a needle for a day or two :( and on top of that beer gives me god awful indigestion.

Thankfully I'm fine with cider, whisky and wine in moderation though :)
