I have a Pentax mz-50 35mm and a pentax digital ( just a little one.) I am very happy with them but am starting to feel inadequate!

Dont feel inadeqate, we have some users that dont have DSLR's and take some really stunning pics with them ! :) At the end of the day, its not the equipment that takes the picture its the person using it !

I have an EOS 1000FN - it cost me £10 including delivery...

I won't mention the 350D and lenses :D

I have a 20D which in it's day cost a fair bit..........but I still get better pictures with a lil digital ixus :suspect:

I have a Fuji S5100 that I manage the occasional decent shot with.

Biggest gripes are A) the flash is crap, and B) manual focus is a nightmare.

Even so, I've done weddings with it and its paid for itself a few times over.

No worries
The day 9/10 people who own cameras shoot hasselblad bodies with 39 Mp backs and you still have your current kit....THEN you can consider feeling inadequate:lol:

In the mean time have fun, shoot lots of pix, share the ones you like and develop your eye.....

Above all else enjoy photograghy because the moment you start buying serious kit you are bound to contract a severe case of upgraditis.

This condition is incurable but is temporarily controlled by the purchase of a bigger, faster, newer or fancier piece of kit...:D

Had a look at your gallery and it looks like you don't have much to feel bad about. What are those white spots on your b&w images though? Hot pixels maybe?

I started with a Fuifilm E550 when I decided to test out digital waters - loved it so much that I started saving my behind off, and moved to a DSLR. I still use the Fujifilm compact though - a big camera can be intrusive, and takes a lot more worrying after.

Anyone who buys an expensive camera will find that its a cheap one after 18 months And what is even worse, point-and-shoots will take better photos at that time.

I have an SD9 but now take far better photos with my S80. I couldn't give my SD9 away if I tried.

I have just got myself a Fuji S5600 only had it since last Wednesday and to be honest I'm struggling with it. My first lot of pics with it were really dire, I've taken better with my little Olympus Camedia!

Thanks, the white spots are dirty negs and a very diry scanner, keep meaning to sort those ones out.:)

Didn't expect so many replies. I do have to admit that I love my two little cameras and my slightly wobbly tripod (depends how u balance it!), they did get me an A for my first project.

Maybe I'm not so concerned about my equipment after all.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

If like me and (perhaps others) you'll find that with time and a deep pocket (or access to someone elses) then you'll get better stuff.
I started off with a 500N film camera and a cheapo sigma lens. Now look at me :(

I have a new Canon EOS 400D but it doesn't stop me feeling inadequate.

Do those kind of shots with your digital camera .....and do you have photoshop?Shoot in colour and convert to b&w.

Try to get a greater tonal range in your b&w images. You'll be amazed at the difference!!
