Yes
very clever idea of British gas (electric) to send all its customers 4 free energy saving lightbulbs through the post.

obviously the package these was sent in was too big to fit through the letterbox, i didnt know what the package was (as it was unexpected) so i had to get in my car and polute the atmosphere on my way to the sorting office to collect it, what a useful waste of energy!

i think i must be cynical, seeing as i only have about 4 'normal' boyonet light fittings in my house and they already all have energy saving '****your eyes up as you try to read by the light they give out' lightbulbs in them :bang:

well done british gas, next time you try to give us something for free, try making it a reduction in the cost of energy bills instead

E-on sent me some a few years back and again last year. not the nicest looking bulbs but they do. :)

Got some from Scottish power thanking me for having my account with them.

I wrote back thanking them for the bulbs and also informed them I have never been one of their customers:cuckoo:

lmao. i love it

We got some through the post the other year. Can't remember who from, but put one of them in the other week. OH boy it's flick the switch and then go make a drink, by this time there might be just enough light to see your way round the room. I have other around the house and they a up to speed in about 15 seconds.

I have energy saving lightbulbs in every light and have never paid for any of them, E-on have sent them, British Gas too. I also have an e-on Powerdown plug for my computer again given away free.

I hate these bloody things. I'm the sucker that has to deliver them and I can tell you they take up helluva lot room in the pouch, especially when you've got more than one box.

As for re-delivery, well I'm loathe to doorstep packets but I make an exception for these. They're worth pennies and people would need to be desperate to pinch them.

I had the same experience, but was a bit surprised when I had to sign for them as Recorded Delivery. Then I realised I was signing for the speeding fine that the postie had hidden underneath the box :bang:

Thats why they are energy saving. You get fed up with waiting for the light so switch it off and feel around in the dark instead.

Free?? No way. They just stealth it on to your bills!!

We all better get used to them, because they are the only type you'll be able to buy soon. I'm sure Australia has already banned incandescent light bulbs and Europe is set to follow.

I got a couple from Scottish & Southern Energy about a month or two ago :) Mind you, they are not really free, we will be paying for them somehow... :suspect:

i got loads from work :D
but your not actually saving energy

<Homer Simpson drool voice> Mmmmm, mercury poisoning

Ahh - that may be the unexplained package I have to go and collect - its going to be staying at the Post Office me thinks !

But it may be an EOS1Ds MkIII sent to you in error... :shake:

Hi,

I put mine in the shed where we run the big diesel generator for our leccy .

My Mrs won't let them in the house - says they're ugly things and make the light fittings look funny. She has a point :lol:

Awwwww, does that mean I have to get dressed and go out :(

Nope just phone and aske them to redeliver, tell them if they are the dreaded lightbulbs to leave them somewhere :cuckoo:

I'm with bg an the only thing they've given me is bigger bills :(

I want energy saving bulbs :annoyed:, not because I use normal bulbs.....because all the main ones are already ES bulbs, but because I've already paid for them with my increased bills :(

LEDs will replace both soon enough. Better colour, longer life and more efficient.
