Up here in the North the ground has been sodden for 7 weeks, on my own property moss is growing on surfaces for the first time ever, I have had to power wash it off drives and paving, the constant rain and dampness has caused timber doors and gates to swell and jam, the ground has been too waterlogged to support a lawnmower and I have had to resort to using a commercial brush cutter to cut the grass. Horses have had to be either stabled or moved to another paddock.

At this very moment we are having yet another heavy downpour.

I expect there will be no respite now until the spring:(.

Its bloody annoying aint it Mal. It puts a right downer on my day at college, Especially if I am there till 6 >.<

Ohhhh the agony!

My socks and shoes get soaked aswell. It isnt nice ! I need some non canvas style shoes!

Yeah rain is a nightmere, i have to work in it, just makes everything that much harder, but then again we havent had as much rain as that, but has been in very heavy spells. The winds over the weekend where more of a problem

Opened the back door to let the dogs out before putting them to bed, they took one look at the rain and went running back into the kitchen :D.

Ah well they will just have to cross their legs tonight:)

Its raining here now, it rotten on the beach when it rains....the wind is like someting else when it comes in sideways....

blew our bloody arbour and rose bush down, wrecked a set of table and chairs too (though they were fair shagged)

after hacking it up and dragging it out at least I got to burn it :D:D:D:D:D:D:DD:D

<I like FIRE>

What Rain? :)

Me... I'm getting hugely hacked off with it all... although it's not so much rain... just very very large amount of clouds and not interesting stuff either... just grey, gloomy and in the way.

I like to look on the bright side - If its raining outside, its a good excuse to sit with the feet up playing Xbox or PS3. Or I can finally get round to doing some processing of Raw files. Or catch up with some programs and films recorded on sky+. Or plan my next day out. Or try out some table top/macro/portrait photography. The list is endless.

Remember, theres no such thing as bad weather - just inappropriate clothing.

This is my first UK winter for + 20 years. Joburg winter is about 3 months, bone dry, cold at night and fairly warm during the day. We're in SW Scotland now, and get a lot of rain anyway, but I'm expecting to see an ark floating down the loch behind the house soon. Spoke to my kids back in SA at the weekend, and it was over 30C in SA.

You can take Night/Day Nurse for your cold but I don't know what to suggest for your wind.

"I went to the Doctor and asked him to give me something for persistant wind....so he gave me a kite." Les Dawson.

All my local walks are mud walks now.

I couldn't get to work this morning, tried three different ways then gave up.

It stopped raining at about 10.00am so I tried again at 11.00am and managed to get through but it was still bad in places.

The Lune is as high as I've seen it in a long while and I saw a few homes who's owners must have been getting slightly concerned.

I agree, the rain is non stop here in Yorkshire and yet when I drive past Lindley Wood resevoir in the dales it is dried up.
Why is that I wonder??

And it's only going to get worse for those living in the north west of England and south west of Scotland as up to 200 mm (8 inches in old money) of rain are expected to fall in those areas in the next 48 hours.
It's more to do with an orographic effect as warm moist moisture-laden air stretching all the way back to the Carribeans is forced upwards as it reach hilly areas and in turn condensation takes place as that airmass cools down suddenly. As a result places like Dumfriies & Galloway, Cumbria and Lancashire will be most hit.
If you want to avoid all that rain while at the same time live in an area that doesn't get flooded out every other day, then move to the South East of the UK where there it's expected to get the least of the rain (there will be some but nowhere as bad) thanks to a large and slack high pressure system centered over the bulk of Europe. It is that what is giving the far south east the best of any brightness as well as the much milder than usual temperatures (up to a balmy 16 C expected in London today, that will feel very warm in any sunshine!).

However, I am expecting a big change to much colder conditions as we enter December where we could get the first significant wintry spell of the season . . . but that's really a long, long way off and it's only an educated guess at best.
