Anyone else dumped the BBC

It’s a government propaganda machine pure and simple ,saw it coming years ago , stop smoking in pubs and clubs they will gradually become uneconomic and close down ,less places for meetings and dissent . As with this pandemic we now sit at home and watch and possibly believe what they are telling us .. big brother has come home to roost ... notiice in other countries how they complied with lockdown easier than we did ... as obedience was drummed into them post war ... lockdown here was introduced reluctantly as they feared we would rebel against it .. HM gov. Need the B.B .C whether or you like it .
In my opinion the BBC is politically 'centre left' of most of the mainstream printed media in the UK owned by Tory sponsors.

The UK Government regularly complain about BBC anti-govt bias, is that just a smoke screen for their covert use of the 'government propaganda' machine?

it was exactly the same in the days of Samuel Pepys the government closed down coffee shops to stop dissent

I love a good conspiracy theory (y)
But you are right, a lot of us of a certain age saw a lot of "control the population" with this that or the other, ( baby steps & back door legislation ;) )
coming to pass a long time ago.

I decided to stop paying the licence fee. I looked into the funding, where the money goes and then looked at the rules and regs, regarding paying for a licence. I then decided that the licence fee is simply another tax, a tax which MAKES the general public fund very highly paid people and an organisation with a clear political bias.
The BBC definition of "live TV" includes endless repeats, all other commercial channels. The BBC no longer broadcast live sport anymore apart from a few exceptions. Gone are F1, test match cricket, European football, golf majors, Olympics. BBC news is a virtual gigglefest, with no worthwhile content.
BBC "You are fired".

TBH that doesn't bother me in the slightest.

The BBC definition of "live TV" includes endless repeats,
This has been steadily on the increase for years,
that and barrel scraping to see exactly what s*** the viewing public will tolerate :(

I told them I wasn't paying this year, I'll just use my repeated licence from last year (y)
( I doubt they'll go for it, but I await their reply (y) )

I think the BBC has been allowed to grow unchecked for too long. The licence fee is far too high, encouraging the BBC to pay fees and salaries which are just not reflected in the quality of the output. The ongoing purpose for the corporation should be to deliver the material that the dozens of other channels across all media won't deliver. A greater concentration on education and information, together with entertainment that features new performers, rather than chasing ratings with "established talent" could be delivered from a much reduced licence fee. The licence could then be made mandatory again, on the basis that such a drastically slimmed organisation would be a national resource for developing all aspects of broadcasting.

43p per day. Good value IMO, even if there are a load of repeats.

Not had a TV licence for going on 6 years now, not missed live TV or the BBC at all.
With having Netflix and Amazon there is loads to watch.

Stopped my licence 6 years ago after realising I had not even switched my tv on in over a year. I have not missed it.
