If Carol Thatcher intended her remarks in a racist manner then she should rightly be sacked.She claims that there was no racial intent.I suppose the problem for many people of a certain age is that they have fond memories of a childhood toy and equally fond memories of a well known preserve.Rightly or wrongly and in these times perhaps naively they dont see the Golly as an image of offence.
A careless use of words may be insensitive and would perhaps require a wrap over the knuckles.If there was intent then that is racism and she should be fired from the BBC as a whole and not just The One Show as is the case.The suggestion is that the politically correct Beeb hierarchy has deliberately chosen to make an example of Ms Thatcher following the recent Ross/Brand debacle and the many wounds to the Corporation suffered at her mothers hands.Carole Thatcher is either an easy victim or an outrageous bigot.If the latter she should be sacked permanently from the BBC.
The question is why hasnt that happened ?

As an Asian it makes me cringe at some of the decisions made by local councils to try and keep minorities happy.
