they're supposed to be good, never used them myself as i've found that for 225/40/18's blackcircles are cheaper (plus you can get a mobile fitter to come to your house/work and fit them). If they have your tyre in stock, Camskill are even cheaper....

And an excellent tyre too. I had these on my BMW last winter - got me everywhere despite many inches of snow.
Really should sell em, not got the car any more!
It difficult to find anything descent for my 205/55/R16, non of the above have W300 in this size. Thinking about Conti TS 830 or Michelin Alpin A4...

No, i took the tyres which i had purchased from mytyres to Watlins to have them fitted. They wanted £50 per wheel!

I've used blackcicles and tyre shopper, haven't had any issues with either.
If you go via topcashback or quidco you can save a bit more aswell.
if you know someone with a Costco card, worth a look, they mainly do Michelin tyres, but have started stocking some continental tyres and they are cheaper than anywhere I've found, especially when they have there 20% off a set of 4

Agreed! My local does the lot for £40 (50 if he disposes of the old tyres)
I have just bought my winter tyres from them (mytyres.co.uk) 2 weeks ago. If you select the fully fitted option they will deliver to a local garage that will fit them for you. Overall I was very happy with my experience and would recommend them.

Think of it from the point of view of the local tyre shop!
You bought tyres from an internet company who are cheaper because they dont have overheads for things like ramps, compressors, insurance , fitters wages and you expect your local tyre shop them to fit someone elses tyres for a pittance. Wake up:bonk:
£50 for half an hours work is perfectly acceptable!
Of course you could have always gone to them for a quote in the first place! Or selected the fitted option which was probably £30 to £50 more

No bud, it was £200 for four tyres fitted. National did the same job for £40 including desposal. Next time i purchased from blackcircle who were slightly cheaper than mytyres and they arranged fitting at watlins which was included in the price!

I got mine from mytyres. It was excellent service and price. I chose not to go the 'fully fitted route' as I could save a few quid by getting them put on elsewhere - obviously that is extra hassle though. You can search for local garages that will fit them using their website and it says price for fitting at each place.

You did see the £50 per wheel didn't you? Doesn't take half an hour for a professional to change and balance a tyre!
I spoke to my local tyre shop about this.
It takes him half an hour to fit 4 tyres on my car and I get charged £40. Not £40 per tyre, but for all of them.
He says it is absolutely the best sort of work he can get. I turn up with the tyres, he puts them on, I pay him. If there is a problem with any of the tyres that would require warranty, I pay him to remove the faulty tyre. I then pay him to fit the new one when it comes back.
He gets the benefits of fitting they tyre without the drawbacks and hassle warranty can cause him. Win/win.

Same as all the t'interweb/retailer price thingies........if you brought tyres to my shop you'd bought off t'interweb I would tell you to get them to fit them - or where to stick them!
Watling Tyres are an independant retailer who have overheads!

I used to work in a garage where customers supplied there own parts. Labour is labour at the end of the day but losing work because you ask for a ridiculous rate because 'you didnt buy them from me' is madness in my opinion. I bet Blackcircle didnt pay them £200 to fit my tyres.
No Black Circles wouldn't have - initially tyre retailers/garages baulked at fitting tyres bought off the internet. Now they have little choice - is it a good or a bad thing? When I sold tyres the average garage wanted ten to twenty pounds a tyre to fit and dispose of the scrap. That's madness with staff, fitting equipment at £3.5k basic, and overheads to pay for. Yes a good tyre fitter can do 4 in 30 minutes.
We in the UK want everything at the cheapest price - it's in our genes now. Profit is a dirty word. Businesses go to the wall because of it. The consumer gets a cheap price but crap service.
We no longer manufacture things because ' you can buy it cheaper from abroad'
That's why the German economy is the strongest in Europe - they make things.
We get the service/products we deserve - oh but we save a few quid on the way:shake:

Quoting £200 to fit 4 tyres is a bad business decision , he should have politely said we only fit tyres we sell if he didn't want to do it, daft quotes can soon backfire when word gets around they tried to rip him off.

Valid point - but then that isn't what I do. I was happy to leave the tyre game due to the fact that too many people wanted cheap foreign imports or second hand tyres catering to what, they believed, the customer wanted.
They had little interest, as a sweeping generalisation, in selling 'premium' tyres preferring to screw down their supplier in order to 'give the product away' and make an unreasonable level of profit - I had a conversation once with a retailer who wanted to screw me down on a certain tyre. He wanted me to cut my price by a pound so that he could sell out at a pound cheaper - not to increase his margin.
I politely declined as I didn't feel inclined to give his customers a pound.
When Black Circles and the like started trading these same retailers bitched like hell that they were being undercut.
I remember a customer of mine giving me a really hard time that he was only making a certain level of profit by fitting the tyres Black Circles had sold to 'His' customer.
In fact he would have made pretty much the same level of profit due to the fact he would have sold a lower value tyre.
If people want to buy products from the internet, be it tyres or cameras, it's their decision. However, don't start to bleat if a retailer don't want to play ball......it is often just principle as they see it as taking their profit.
In our continued efforts to get a cheaper price we all use the internet at times, another sweeping statement, this will continue to erode retailers business and therefore profit which will inevitably lead to their demise.
Then we'll all be in the crap because our lady wives wont have any shops to drag us round

I spoke to a local fitter when he was fitting the thread I bought and got fitted via black circles, he was saying that black circles actually pay him more per tyre than he charges so its good for him to work with black circles,
Now I get my tyres from either black circles or b.i.t.s as I can fit them at work myself

The retailer and his customer. If a tyre is deemed to be faulty by the retailer it has to be returned to the manufacturer for inspection - unless they prefer to take a chance and replace it on spec.
If they, (the manufacturer), then agree the fault is due to a manufacturing defect they will give an allowance against a replacement based on remaining tread depth. This would be via a credit to the retailer.
It was always a bone of contention to me that the customer was either 1.left without a tyre at this point, or, 2. he / she had to buy a new tyre - the retailer had to front this out with his customer.
(I will clarify at this point that I have been away from the industry for a few years so this may have changed - I doubt it however).
Various tyre manufacturers introduced tyre ranges which came with a damage cover and some retail chains offered insurance as an incentive / extra income stream.

In which case I don't see what your point is in reply to me.
The tyre fitter is the guy who loves that sort of work. The retailer is the internet company who courier the tyres out to the customer.
You pay your money, you take your chances. I was simply pointing out to the people bleating about jonny tyre fitter loosing out on the business that it was not as clear cut as that - certainly not in the case of my local fitter.

I was referring to the part of my previous post which you highlighted - which was with reference to warranties. You, with your comments toward warranty, are the exception rather than the norm I would say - oh, and I've yet to meet 'Jonny' tyre fitter, as you so eloquently put it, who 'loves that type of work' unless, maybe, they have a slight masochistic streak - or work on a race team, which I did for a number of years.
Ask your average commercial tyre fitter on a dark, stormy night fitting a truck tyre on the side of the M6.
You are correct, however, you do indeed pay your money and take your choice and 'good ole Jonny' can do the same

If we keep shopping from the net to save £5 then very soon wont be anything left on the high street and then you'll see the net prices start drifting up because we helped them to kill off the competition.
I agree £50 to change one tyre is daft but perfectly reasonable to change 4.
