Anyone bought from Panamoz?

I would also hope the forum rule banning the discussion of the bad practices of grey retailers and buyers happy to break the law other than in one single thread will have a reciprocal rule also banning the discussion and promotion of tax evasion and smuggling (and the profits made by the buyers willing to break the law) on the forum other than in a dedicated single thread as well.
Well, that didn't last long. The new forum rules don't ban the discussion, condoning or cencouragement of illegal activities.

If I've read that right, we might be heading for an environment where it's OK to discuss illegal activities, but it's not OK to point out that they are illegal.

I also have the fear that it is the start of a subforum specifically for the promotion and discussion of how to break the law and openly boast of their successes but any counter argument will be verboten in any part of that forum bar the specially prepared single thread that will be ignored by the tax evaders and probably missed by anyone in the forum as it will be swamped by "HK retailer X is just so wonderful, I ordered a Canikon xyz and they had it delivered in 5days and I saved £400! Who cares about the law or thefact it arrived as a 'toy sample' valued at $5".

I don't know if you've read the rules since the update but discussion of illegal activity is still firmly prohibited....just as it was in the old rules, and just as it was in the old rules when a moderator say drop it your supposed to...if people ask about grey market suppliers hopefully in the not to distant future you'll be able point them in the direction of a sticky on the pitfalls and legalities and leave the poster to make the decision based on their conscience

Matt, its all very well to say "drop it" but I have a problem with anyone allowing the promotion or conspiracy to commit crime. It breaks UK law *staff edit - contact me if you have a problem*

It makes no sense to have a sub-forum for a greedy immoral bunch of people to conspire about the best method of smuggling and evasion to use.

By your argument, discussions on file sharing and illegal music or film downloading should also be allowed, let's publish how to do it, where the best websites are for finding torrents and leave it the posters conscience whether they steal music or not.

If it's against the law, it shouldn't be allowed to be discussed, no matter what law, we aren't allowed to pick and choose which laws we like or dislike and then give preference to allowing discussion of certain lawbreaking because we don't agree with the law just seems wrong (whilst attempting to stifle any dissenting voices).

Your really missing the point by some considerable distance.

its getting boring now guys. you've made your point many times over, in this thread and many others. Its not about pointing out what you dont agree with, its continuously doing it, all the time.

Panamoz are not advertisers, infact we turned them down because we were not keen on their setup, but all you are doing is thread spoiling. Its pretty simple, if you dont like buying from other territories, then dont. if you dont like others buying from other territories, well hard cheese, that is their choice. its also up to those that import to declare their imports

I dont like smokers, people who preach continuously, large corporations that stand on the little guy, but im not going to bang on about it, because people just start to think that its annoying, as testified by the RTMS we've had about this thread and the others that the same people get going with

For the FINAL time
WE ARE NOT CONDONING ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES

I'll be totally blunt, if you dont like what we do here, you are free to leave. There is a bit about moderator decisions, i suggest you refresh on that before posting again, for those that who havent looked that far:

The problem is not with pointing out the potential pitfalls and legalities of buying from a particular retailer.

What we wont tolerate, and what is being incredibly tiresome, is the seemingly endless tirade of barracking everytime there is the potential for the topic to be raised.
We won't allow Talk Photography to be used as a soapbox or vehicle for a personal or commercial moral crusade, regardless of whether the reasoning is justified and correct.

With regards to the particular rule about not discussing illegal activities. This was a rule that was introduced at our inception when I first wrote them properly.
I took it out to simplify the rule.
And why did I simplify the rules? Because too many people were taking the exact wording too literally and cherry picking what they wanted to see on the forum, by quoting the rules back at us.
We never had any comments about threads where someone discussed that they had inadvertently trespassed on someone's land to take a photograph. Or the threads where someone admitted to speeding on their way to work.
Or threads where they discussed potential violence against a member of the public for accusing them of being a paedophile.
