No
I'm sure many people have but I've had a few alarm bells this afternoon, I bought it from a seller who has a couple on buy it now auctions, it arrived today, entered the serial etc online and it required proof of purchase, so I converted a paypal receipt into a PDF and scanned the bar code + serial number and attached such. I now have to wait 48 hours to see if Apple will grant a new plan on my iMac!?
I've just sent the seller an email regarding this to confirm if he has an original sales receipt in case Apple ask for it.

Anyone else been in a similar scenario? If Apple are going to refuse, I'll put in the paypal dispute and buy it in the store to save the hassle, soo much for saving £60

Something I have considered doing many times but was never brave enough to try. I'd be interested to know how you get on.

I did for my macbook pro a couple of years ago, and had to use it last year when the hard drive flashed up as failing about 2 weeks after 12mth warranty expired. No problems at all, I had registered numbers etc and all was well. I was going to do the same for my iMac last year, but via a contact with good Apple connections, the discount I got on it straight from Apple meant I didn't need to.

However, as always with these things, its caveat emptor, not all ebay sellers are the same.

if I can find who I bought mine from, will let you know.

Thanks Yvonne,

He sent me a message this morning saying he tried it on his and all was well, we'll just see what Apple has to say as I don't have the original proof of purchase apart from buying it from ebay. It's definitely a genuine box but I would imagine it's an older serial as the box is for iMac & eMac so we're probably looking at new old stock from around 2006!
Thank god I paid with Paypal!

Woohoo, email from Apple this morning, I now have a fully eligible Applecare plan in place until 2015. Not bad for a £60 purchase I guess! :)
