Yes
Flicking through the Tesco direct catalogue and they have 100-400L's for sale, although definately not at Tesco value price.

Now my dilemma, I've got a fair few clubcard points and a tesco finance credit card thing which means I get even more points, so potentially although its a bit more then the going rate I could get it a bit cheaper. Although what if I need to return it under warranty would I have to send it straight back to Canon and can I trust Tesco customer service to actually know what to do with it?

Bit of help and opinions appreciated please

I'd go ahead and buy it. Any issues, send it to Canon RCC at Elstree - they'll sort it out under warranty assuming you keep the receipt.

Camera World won't take my £400 of clubcard vouchers though, and won't give me £107 more of clubcard vouchers for buying it.

So technically the lens actually only costs me £842, was just worried about if it had a problem etc.

but surely it would make more financial sense to get it from Camera World in chelmsford and then use the clubcard points to buy weeks/months shopping etc.......

I second that! Save the vouchers for christmas shopping - food or presents, it will go much further.

And with a lens like that, surely an independant would be open to some haggling, adding extras in to the deal?

And thats it, having to go back to Tescos if it has a fault bearing in mind they are not reknown for camera sales and service, I can just imagine my poor sick lens stuffed in a box waiting to be returned with frozen chickens and broken mobile phones and no lens covers on :shake:

Maybe, but the missus looks after all the shopping anyway, these are points I've collected by caning my fuel card!

So is this a purchase that may not be sanctioned fully by she who must obeyed? If so, then Hmmmmm., I would consider it.

Although your £400 of clubcard vouchers would be worth £1200 in clubcard deals, which should get you a holiday. SUrely you could use that as leverage?

My wife gave me lots of our Tesco vouchers to go and drive a Ferrari, a Porsche, and a Formula Renault at Thruxton

Kindof academic now, went for a walk into town at lunch and ended up buying a used one from LCE, was a good price though.

So now all I need to do is make it home before she does then I can hide it somewhere before she sees it!
