Yes
I've never been before and was thinking of going next weekend to try out a bit of wildlife photography for the first time.

I was wondering if my fiancée was driving and I was snapping out of the window is it OK to stop, can other people overtake you or do you all have to follow in a procession?

I know you can't get out obviously but can you just pull over to the side while others pass you?

Any other tips for safari park photography?

I've not been for ages but my lad went a few weekends ago, no overtaking places as far as he could see, so very processional (almost like an F1 Grand Prix :: )
Unless you are overly worried about the people behind it should be ok I reckon. Anyway you've paid your money so if they get the hump they'll just have to wait.

Beware of the monkies.

Matt

The roads through the safari park are narrow but just wide enough for two cars IIRC, I think you can pull onto the grass a little if needed. The wardens drive about to keep an eye on things and can get a bit cautious about people using cameras - it's been known for people to wind down windows in lion enclosures and the like!

There is a small traditional zoo too where you can snap away and if you walk through the deer park the herds offer some good opportunities, plus the abbey itself is worth a looksee.

Good point, that would be a bit silly with the lions, but presumably it's OK to wind down the window a bit with less dangerous animals?

Not been myself, but have you considered Whipsnade Zoo, is a good Zoo, very tog friendly, as most if not all the enclosures have areas that you can shoot from with no fence, for an extra cost, you can take the car in to drive round the park (is big and this makes it easier to get round with kit).

I'm going on Monday. But I'm taking the staff for a day out and to have a go at GoApe, so no chance of any pics 'cept of screaming women.

Yes I have gone there, and driven around with my windows down the whole way around. :P

Personally i think Whipsnade is a better zoo.

Once you've driven around Woburn there's not much else.

Whipsnade has more variety and nice enclousures anyway. That's where I'd go.

Woburn's good...

All taken two weeks ago. Can drive around with the windows down all the way through to be fair, there's plenty of room for cars side by side and you get right up close and personal with the animals outside of the safari bit. The monkey enclosure's great, the lemurs quite happily jump on your shoulder at feeding times and the bird demos are good.

Well worth the trip in my opinion :D

Sorry to be pedantic but you are not allowed to drive around the safari park with windows down, on the roads through the deer park it's fine though. If there's any doubt contact Woburn on 01525- 290407 for clarification.

HTH,

Stu.
