I'm away sailing again next year and I usually have a holiday with my partner one end or other of a long trip. Originally this was going to be in Chile but due to a change of plans I have the option of Chile or Ecuador.
Initially I thought we would stick to Chile, I arrive in Valparaiso which is a world heritage site, and we could have a few days there, a few in Santiago and perhaps a few on Easter island.
The Ecuador end looked less inviting, the port where we dock is Guayaquil which doesn't seem very inspiring.
However I now find that this is where the flights leave for the Galapagos. If we choose to go there it will be very much a land based trip as my partner can't stand being on boats (he goes green watching waves on the telly) and I'm wondering how successful that might be. If somebody has been there I'd appreciate your views.
I'm thinking that a base on Isabela might be the best bet.
