Yes
I'm off to Rockingham tomorrow for the British Touring Car Championship.

Got myself a Canon 100-400 for the weekend, was wondering if anyone could recommend the best places to shoot from on the circuit. Think tickets allow you access to most areas so any advice on where I should be heading??

Thanks! :)

Where should you be heading? - away from Rockingham ! Brands Hatch is nice, Cadwell Park is lovely. Oulton Park - also nice. Rockingham from the public area is poor. Fence City. Jurassic Park without Dinosaurs.

However, if you must, and want to take your camera, shoot through the Fence at Tarzan or just after it if the marshalls let you. There will be a big heap of photographers here.

On top of the Pit Garages or from the grandstands.

The public are limited to between turn 4 on the oval, the start 'straight' and turn 1 on the oval. Most of the infield section is out of bounds, but you are allowed on the pit garage roof.

OK Andrew, thanks for the heads-up. Hope it's not as dire as you're making out!

Weather is supposed to be OK again tomorrow so hopefully I'll have a good day.

I'll head to the spots you mention - sounds like on top of the pit garages is the best place for unrestricted views.

I HATE fences!! :gag:

never mind, only a week till brands hatch chaps!

Reckon its going to be busy if the weather is like this.

So, what did you think of Rockingham?

I actually quite enjoyed it!

You were spot on with your advice Andrew, spent the day running between the top of the pit garages to the turn at 'Tarzan'.

I went on the Saturday and particularly enjoyed the fact that they're were zero queues - drove straight onto the car park and walked straight onto the circuit, no messing. And it was pretty quiet in there, no fighting for position and no-one shoving their super-zooms into your face. Guess you were right in saying it's not the most popular venue.

Definately gonna try some other circuits soon, no doubt I'll be back here asking for more tips.

Thanks again for the advice. :)

Brands this weekend matt, they will use the GP circuit that has plenty of unobstructed spots to stand, wasn't that busy last year either.
