Digging through an old box at the back of a cupboard I found this signed photo? Can’t for the life of me remember who it was and can’t decipher the autograph - any ideas?
Ps, photo would be taken approx 1989 give or take a year or two.

Looking at the shirt badge, I think a West Indies touring team.

Googling finds some memorabilia of signed name cards but none that I have found show that signature.

If no other TP member can confirm as appropriate...... I wonder if the WI cricket authority can identify the player for you???

PS this seems to be the points of contact

Mail sent! I shall update if / when I receive a reply.

Looks very much like Gordon Greenidge
Many thanks Gerry - now have to work out what the was doing in Wales circa 1989! I have mailed him on his personal website to see if he recognises the kit and remembers where/when it was taken.

If it was 1987 he was still playing for Hampshire - a match against Glamorgan maybe ???

Though his shirt has a WI badge.....so if a Hampshire match, I surmise he would have the county shirt on? ;)

True, West Indies played Glamorgan while on tour in 1984 and 1988, in 1984 Gordon Greenidge was in the starting line up but not in 1988 (unless he was 12th man)
I dont think this is the West Indies badge. There is a large and possibly a word underneath. The word could be 'Brecon' which is where the photo was possibly taken.

I beg to differ.

The current WI badge is a more colourful version but the shape, Palm tree and the 'pattern' at top right is key.

As far as I could find, that patterned section varied/varies depending on the specific island origin of the player....or possibly the whole team(at that time period).

I came across this post whilst searching google and decided to join just to post a reply.

It is without doubt Gordon Greenidge, it was taken in April 1989 when a Barbarian/Gordon Greenidge XI toured Wales. The picture was taken of Gordon at Christ College Brecon whilst coming out of the changing rooms, not the old pavillion which wasn't really in use then.

I have a photo of Gordon signing my bat when I was aged 15 as I was at CCB at the time, just can't work out how to upload the photo??!! My photo was taken literally 10 yards from your photo!

Only reason I was searching for this is because I met him again yesterday at Roebucks Cricket Club where he was attending as part of the Lashings World XI charity event, I showed him the photo from 1989 which he then kindly signed!
