OK, perhaps I didn't make the issue clear enough.

I don't have the originals. They were taken about 3.5 years ago with my old phone, and that was in the days before all phone images were automatically backed up into the cloud. I didn't consider them to be "proper" photos worthy of uploading into Lightroom on my PC, just quick snaps suitable for a quick share on Facebook and my blog. And the phone died about 2 years ago.

Now I've realised I need them again - for a court case, unbelievably - so I need to locate them. Unfortunately, to use either Google Image Search or Tineye, I'd need an image to search for, and I don't have the images. Just the dead URLs.

Thanks for the thought though.

If you uploaded them, won't they be in the photos section of your profile? Under https://www.facebook.com/your_profile_name/photos_all
Thanks, I didn't know there was a page where you could see *all* the photos you've uploaded to Facebook, regardless of what album they're in. That will be useful one day, I'm sure.

Unfortunately I uploaded the photos to the LensesForHire Facebook page, and this doesn't seem to work. If I replace your_profile_name with my profile name, it works fine; but with the LensesForHire profile name I just get a 404 error.

I wonder whether there is a similar URL for non-personal pages in Facebook? Time to experiment.....

Is it in here?

https://www.facebook.com/LensesForHire/photos_stream

I'm just getting these locations from going to the profile and clicking on the photos tab in the header section.
No, not there. But that's where they should be. Thanks.

I'm starting to question myself now. Obviously I uploaded these images to Facebook because otherwise I wouldn't have the URLs. And logically I wouldn't have deleted them. Hmmm....

Most obvious explanation is that lensesforhire deleted it from its page.

stewart is lenses for hire... duh

On phone so don't see signatures. It's not obvious from the avatar. I don't mind being corrected at all, but to have "duh" thrown in there is fairly disrespectful but common with keyboard heroes unfortunately....

well you're a sensitive little flower , duh

his avatar is the lenses for hire logo - also why else would he have loaded pictures of their stock to their facebook page and now need them for legal reasons- double duh

See previous comment about keyboard heroes....

really princess , put your toys back in your play pen

I apologise most crumbly from the very heart of my bottom for using a very common phrase to indicate that pretty much everyone knows stewart is lenses for hire, from his postings, his profile, the fact that their logo is in his avatar and in his signature , and indeed from the content of this thread

now go and get mummy to kiss her special little soldier better

Silly question? If your have the 'original' URL's have you asked FB why the URL is failing and as such why it is failing and whether the images are still on their servers at all???

Ha ha. It never for one second occurred to me that Facebook themselves might answer the question. Do they actually have any customer service? I'll look into it.

Do you know roughly when the photos were taken (and what they were of) as your Lenses For Hire Photo timeline goes way back to at least 2011 (i stopped clicking next after that) and they are all in chronological order

Also, is it just me, or does that URL you posted look nothing like a Facebook one (or am i missing something)

Mystery solved. Thanks for everyone who had offered suggestions.

The solution was that, whilst I had indeed uploaded the photos to Facebook and was sharing them from there, for some reason I had uploaded them to my personal FB account rather than to the LensesForHire account. Then, to make matters worse, I had uploaded them into a "wrong" album on FB which meant I wouldn't have found them except by accident. A bit like putting a T-shirt in your sock drawer.

But it turns out that the URLs had changed. When I uploaded the photos in 2012 and linked to them from the LFH blog, one of the URLs was:
http://sphotos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/416831_353777197980865_145898989_n.jpg
and now it's
https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/416831_353777197980865_145898989_n.jpg?oh=2e2e79fca6d60bbdcd9a214e2f35d9d2&oe=56557319

So the filename is the same, but it seems that FB have moved it onto a different server since I uploaded it, and it also needs some gobbledygook at the end of the URL to make it work. (No idea why that is.)

Thank again for the help.

Glad you got it sorted, Stewart.

Glad you've got it sorted, but you must have really small t shirts or really big socks if you couldnt find a t shirt in your sock drawer ;)
