Hi,

I'm thinking of buying a :
Yongnuo Flash Speedlite YN-565EX

From a seller on Amazon called BV-Electronics.

Does anybody know anything about Yongnuo products?
&
HAs anybody dealt with BV-Electronics - I can't find where they are based.

Thanks,

WTP

I'm in the middle of learning about speedlights etc myself
I had a look round and was thinking of buying this flash, but found a couple of forums doing a write up/report from all the users and there too many failures for me to consider it.
Seems a nice bit of kit when it works, but build quality and lastability are very hit and miss. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. Think they come from china with a 0-3 months warranty depending on seller
I decided to stick to nikon, which is more expensive but fed up trying to save money then having to buy again to get what I want
If you go for it, hopefully you'll get a good un

Yongnuo are well known for their 3rd party flashguns, I have one myself.

As for the seller, BV-Electronics, I've bought from them a couple of times in the past and not had any problems. I seem to remember that they're UK based....or was it South Africa? Nevertheless, you're in safe hands with them...

Yongnuo flashes are usually good value for money. I've got 3 of the 560 models which have never missed a beat. Currently looking to upgrade to some 565's and possibly the new 622 triggers when they are released.

From what I can see on Amazon BV-Electronics are asking £147.99 for the flash which is way too much.
It can be bought on ebay for under £100 or just over £100 from UK sellers.

Might be better to buy direct from the manufacturer -

I have a couple, a 467 and 560II. Really excellent value for money.

It may cost a wee bit more, hoever I'd suggest buying from a UK seller and one with a reputation for good after sales service, as any saving you make buying direct, or from a HK seller soon evaporates if you have to return the flash under warranty.

What I found was that YN don't appear to do any quality control inspections pre shipping, so there is a fairly good chance that you may receive a DOA item...

Good point. I'm in Ireland and get fleeced for UK > Ireland delivery (anything up to £25), but the Amazon prices inc. delivery are reasonable.

I just bought a Yongnuo YN-468II i-TTL from ebay for £60 and can recommend it.
I'm definately not a expert in flash and this is my first one, but the build quality feels good and it works perfectly with my D80. Just gotta learn how to use it properly now.

I bought it here.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230751990919 and it arrived in 2 days.

If you're buying a 565EX (a) make sure it's the revised model released a few months ago and (b) make sure they give you 12months warranty. If they can't commit to either of those, order from somewhere that can, even if it means waiting longer from places like ThePhotoGadget (who have excellent customer services)

I've used them before too and had no problems. The 565 from them should be just over £110 delivered to Ireland

Ditto thecrow, had three 560ii and a 565ex of this guy, the 565ex went insane after six weeks and he replaced it without a quibble. Unbelievably fast delivery and cheapest I could find at the time. Also got a couple of R603 triggers, if you go for these watch how you attach them with a flash on top as they have no clamp of any kind of their own and need to be secured. I would recommend the Yongnou stuff based on my experience.

I bought 3x560s off eBay from a UK seller last year. Never had a issue and so easy to use. If your buying more than one, email the top three people and ask them is there any discount or items they can throw in!

just got a 565 from the ebay link above cost £110 came the next day well impressed i just need to learn how to use it now

Looks good - in London

How long was the warranty?

Just a message to say that it's not a great idea to try the old 565EX with a battery pack. I bought one in February (it's since been revised) and I frazzled it. Sent it back, though, and got a full refund. The new 565EX, however, has apparently had this problem fixed.
