I'm looking to upgrade to an EOS 40D when I get home next week and was having a look on ebay. I found this guy http://shop.ebay.co.uk/merchant/bushbaby1 who seems to be selling quite a few similar cameras. The fact that they all have 11 months Canon warranty and differing numbers of actuations lead me to assume they're refurbs he's picked up as a job lot.

I wondered if anyone had possibly bought from this seller as he seems to have sold a few of these recently and the feedback appears encouraging.

Bit of a long shot but thought I'd ask. I haven't used ebay for some time and am a bit wary since I've heard it's gone downhill a bit.

So they range from £500 to £535? Can't you get a new one for £550'ish?

EDIT: According to Camera price buster the cheapest is about £590.

Had a look at the link - they have 100% feedback.

Also if you look in the description - see link below to i of the 40D - they are a refurbished item, don't know if that will help make up your mind

I was encouraged by the 100% feedback.

D'oh. Can't believe I missed the bit where it plainly says refurbished :amstupid:

Since they all have Canon warranty, I'm sure it's safe to assume they've been refurbished by Canon so should be fine. I'm tempted as I would get a body with low shutter actuations, refurbed by the manufacturer and with 11 months warranty, for about £100 less than new price. Will have to wait and see though as I don't get paid until the 19th so can't bid until then - hopefully there'll still be some left or he'll have more for sale.

Have a look here. They claim to be the official Canon refurb outlet. All the stuff comes with a full 12 month Canon warranty :)

Of the 2, price dependant, I'd choose the later - being Canon's own outlet shop on e-bay.

Actually, if you click on any of the items in either link it takes you to the same seller - canon_uk1 - with nearly 50,000 transactions and 99.1% positive. I think it's safe to assume it's genuine and reliable.

PM Kerso on here and see what price he could do one for, you may be surprised.
Also keep an eye out on here for s/h ones. I would rather buy one off here than ebay!

Cheers

Aaah, makes sense now - i hadn't seen the other link, :bonk:
