As the title says...Anyone interested in windsurfing around the bristol channel area?? Like South Wales, Weston-super-Mare, etc? I like wave and freestyle windsurfing, so the bigger the waves the better, or even flat inland water with good wind.

The next time I visit family in South Wales (Rhondda area) I'll be taking my windsurfing kit and I'm keen to know where the best places to go are, like beaches or even inland.

I've been all over the world windsurfing and worked in many different countries as an instructor, but never been out in England or Wales.

Not into windsurfing myself but your best bet is to look towards the Gower area as the beaches that surround it are open to a lot of wind directions with Rhosilli being a particular favourite of surfers. It's not to far from the Rhonda and you can get current wind/wave conditions for the area from Gower Live here:- http://www.gowerlive.co.uk/webcams/llangennith-webcam I use the site for info when paragliding in the area, hopefully a bit later today. :)

if your visiting the rhondda area the nearest place would be rest pay in porthcawl or up the coast to port talbot to aberavan-margam sands.both these places are pretty popular..

Thanks both. I had a look about and seen quite a few nice places depending on wind direction. There's also a small reservoir literally right beside the M4 owned by Tata Steel Sailing club. I rang them up and they only charge a small fee for a one day membership. Just there will do nicely to get the sea breeze but flat water, depending what I feel like.

Now I'm on the hunt for a new trailer to haul all my kit lol.
