Any wedding togs near Manchester?

A friend has asked me to shoot her wedding in Sept. It's not even in mainland UK so I'm not doing any of you lovely pro's out of a job. TBH, I don't think she would really be in a position to pay for a quality tog anyway. which is where I come in!

Are there any of you out there who would appreciate having a 2nd around at a wedding or two so I can observe and take a few extra pics? I promise I can behave and scrub up OK:gag:

I do have some decent equipment in a 5D, 24-105mm nifty fifty and 70-210mm f4.

I'd like to do a seminar by way of training but the one I had earmarked with Mark Cleghorn, I'm on holiday so I can't go.

I'm based in Manchester. Where is this wedding anyway? I pretty much help out many photographers weddings and also do my own weddings. What in it for the photographer who decide to take it up?

What's in it for any tog willing to help me out? Well, I'm quite happy to pay for a seminar so I'm happy to pay for learning in general. Plus, if I do take any decent pics the tog gets them to include for their client. Win, win for everyone really.
 
Why do people scrimp on there wedding photographer ?
Bet they pay for £££££ limo, that gives them a 10 min ride.
But they wony pay a pro who will give them pictures they will love for the rest of there lives.

I listed the equipment so anyone willing to give me the opportunity would know that I was serious and that I would not be turning up with something inappropriate and I do know what I'm doing with it (I do a fair amount of studio work)

I'm sure I can handle the pressure too (I'm used to working on my own initiative in my day job)

What I am looking to do is to shadow an experienced tog so I can pick up on positioning, angles and how they manage the people.

Looks like I'll be going on a seminar instead.
 
I dont think we have many wedding togs near Manchester on here :( not noticed many anyway, and dont mind Papalazarou - he has the subtlety of a hammer sometimes :p You might find some local wedding togs in something like the yellow pages, no harm in asking them if they would require an assistant at any stage in the near future. I imagine most will have a website with details on how to contact them etc :)

Thanks Jimmy, I've got a couple of other possibilities for training days in the area so I'll be investigating those. I don't want to leave it until the last minute so I'm getting my skates on!
 
Also worth googling 'wedding photography help/routines/advice/tutorials' too before hand , I did this and was able to plan my actions much better.....

Main thing with wedding photography I reckon is being a people person and being able to manage people whilst making them feel relaxed and comfortable, this shows in a photo.

There was an article in one of the photo mags a couple of months ago about various types of photography. One of them was weddings, it had a very handy list of things to cover, when to cover them etc. Certainly would help me if I ever did a wedding.

Might be worth looking it up. Once you know what general shots are needed it's just learning the techniques of taking them, and managing people well.
 
Thanks Mike, I found a Wedding mag at the weekend with a photography special, even had a checklist of shots required by the couple.
And I'll be doing a seminar with on location shooting. Might as well learn properly!

I have the chance to work as a 2nd at a wedding in May which I'm really looking forward to.
