I know I could report it, but I took it with a pinch of salt.
I just thought it was a little childish and thought everybody else may find it amusing.

Maybe he just wasn't his normal self today ??

Scan's RMA service is the pits. Enought posts on forums about it and their service.

Anyway, if you had the mobo with you another thing you could try doing is to check each ram module by putting one in, taking it out and then trying another to see if one is faulty.

Also, did you connect the 4 pin Power connector to the mobo?

As someone above said, could be the battery on the mobo is failing.

Could be a few reasons and i hope they sort it for you. If not, pop back in here and i am sure we can try and help you somehow.

Hi

Both the power supplies where connected and we did strip the computer down the bear minimum and try each ram stick individually. No success,

I guess I'll just have to wait and see,

Could very well be a faulty motherboard! They need to check it properly. Hope all goes ok anyway.

Well when everybody here was telling me in wasn't broken I phoned there tech support to see if they should just send it back and they seemed to think that the motherboard was probably faulty.

As I say we will just have to wait and see.

take a high res macro of the socket with the date on it, scan have a habit of saying the socket is damaged and voiding the warranty when there is a good chance they damaged it rushing the RMA test and not the person who brought it.

it also gives you a chance to inspect for bent springs in the socket before you return it just in case :)

I have only just joined the forum and came across this thread. I am not going to comment as its a disgraceful thread that should have been closed by the Admins after 3 replies from what i can see and there should be at least 6 members on here serving a suspension instead of just 1.
I would however like to ask one question.
The original poster stated a few posts back that the thread was a mistake but yet he has not closed it. Why?

Sorry i will expand on this a little more.
According to the forum rules flaming etc, is not allowed but yet many have posted Cuckoo icons and rude remarks about CraigF's wrong information about TSR's but yet no admin's have suspended or even removed those posts.
One guy even told him to Shut his mouth but yet nothing was done.
I dont claim to know all the background and can only go with what i have read but i will say 2 wrongs dont make a right and certainly 6 or 8 wrongs most certainly do not make a right.

Could you point out the post where he was told to shut his mouth please?

Anyone who posts

No disrespect m8 but you state your friend is clued up on computers?...Well in all honesty i would say i have forgotten more than he has ever learned.

followed by

It wipes the TSR's m8. Terminate and Stay Resident Programmes that remain in memory due to the battery..Removing the battery kills the brain so to speak and totally resets it.

deserves to be called out on it IMHO.

If that deserves a ban, then please mods, go ahead.

Hi Craig, welcome back

Bye Craig.

Craig, take it like a man and stop being a childish fool. The only thing that is coming out of this is that anyone who reads this thread will realise we were right to give you 24 hours off in the first place.

OMG - when I joined this forum, it was a very happy and friendly one.. I wonder what's going on...

Anyway to the op, try removing the battery, remove and reinstall the memory modules, alsom double check the cpu and check it sits properly.. good luck.

I've used scan since I got my first PC in 1994 and they've always been great. I've had things go wrong and they've always replaced them quickly and without fuss. Unlike overclockers.co.uk which I wouldn't touch with a very long pole with a dog poo on the end

My previous experience with Scan - good as long as nothing goes wrong - CS is rubbish and slow

Another + for Scan although last time I used them was before they got big.....

I'm lucky that I can travel to speak to them if needed although with ALL compaines I'd speak to them first before buying, do some reseach on them ( although quite often on the net that can be negative ) and if some thing goes wrong ring em and ask advice, you never know ;)
