Any tips

Going to car rally in Scotland next weekend and am a novice with my new Cannon 1000D has anyone got any basic tips for me? I mean basic.

Don't stand on the outside of corners, not only if a car is going off it will go off there but all the dirt and everything else that is kicked up goe to the outside of the corners and covers those that are standing in the way. I did it once, you will be suprised at the size of the rocks that the cars kick up as they go past.
