Any tips for shooting in the rain?

Apart from the obvious 'Don't let the camera get wet' etc
Thought I may as well utilise this British summer time.

So any tips/examples are welcome. Thank you
 
I was just thinking about getting creative with some rainy day/night shots. I figured I could cover my camera without to much effort but what I thought would be very handy is an umbrella holder for the tripod. Sure it could be tricky if it was windy or raining really hard but with a hand to steady it could work. Maybe?
 
you may want to shot some sky/clouds - maybe useful to have a stock of clouds to then drop into other shots in the future

landscapes often look dramatic during rain / storms

maybe people with umbrellas may be some good portraits

flowers after the rain has finished - although I often spray the flowers to get droplets of water

rivers often flow faster and smaller rivers can look great after rain

Or you take your flash off camera, hide it and backlight the rain for an awesome visual effect.

Like lens flare, wide angle distortion, ultra shallow DoF, this is something that you can see as a Pita or a great opportunity to get creative.:thumbs:
 
Great advice guys! Really going to get creative with it! Luckily landscape wise I have a fantastic high up view of bristol from my window so I'm able to stay dry! Do you guys have any examples of the work you've produced in the rain?
 
Rainstorms in the distance are great for landscapes. Plus you dont actually get wet yourself!

Also don't forget that "not so fine" weather makes for fantastic black and white images!
