I have a BT landline with a BT Décor handset. I discovered this morning that I can no longer call mobile numbers. When I dial a mobile (tried 3 different mobiles on different networks so far) each time the mobile displays a "missed call", but does not ring out or connect with the landline.
Is that likely to be a fault with my handset or a BT problem.
No idea if this is relevant, but I recently cancelled Anonymous Call Rejection and Voicemail on my BT account.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
 
Find a different phone to try to call out with to exclude the handset.

Call into your landline from a mobile.

There is an automated line test thingy option with BT. I'd try that first to see whether some fault has occurred. If nothing registered then ring BT and describe the problem to them and tell them to check the account and any work going on at your exchange.

Are all the mobile numbers on their original network or have they been ported? There have been issues with ported numbers every now and then as they are routed to the original mobile provider's network then passed onto the new one.

When was the last time you called a mobile and it worked ok? If it was just before the account changes then it points a big fat finger at some issue with that...
 
sounds like its making enough of a connection to cause the missed call.

id speak to BT as a starter, their service status page suggests they are having a few ongoing issues but not sure if they are in your area (please have a useful location set ;) ) or whether these would cause the issue you are experiencing.

BT say they have no technical issues and there is nothing on my account to bar connecting with mobiles. Don't know for sure if any of the numbers have been ported. I use Tesco mobile and all of a sudden I cannot ring my own phone (handy for finding it in the house).
BT suggested it may be my handset so I'll get another and try it.
 
The connecting but not actually ringing can be a sign the mobile operator has problems. It happened to me on Giffgaff (another o2 virtual network) so that I couldn't call my phone properly. Entire network then fell over for a few hours. If all the mobiles you tried were all o2 or virtual o2 providers that could be the issue and it might not be anything to do with BT.

What is odd is that a short while ago I asked my neighbour to ring my mobile from her landline and she got through. Need to try another handset.
