Looking for ideas for a good case for carrying around the Hasselblad Xpan. For those not that familiar with it, it's a bit like a wide bodied Contax style rangefinder.

Aswell as being as rare as hens teeth, the Hasselblad every ready case for the Xpan is horrendously expensive (surprise?:D)

At the moment, I'm using a Lowepro 120AW but it's not ideal, requiring a bit of packing and a bit awkward to access.

Just wondering what anyone else uses or can recommend. Cheers.

from the awful tatty state of the painted metalwork of almost every one I've seen, I don't think anyone's managed to find something decently protective :(

(maybe it's just that they couldn't get paint to stick to the Titanium )

I heard somewhere that Hasselblad was experimenting with some water based paint instead of the regular oil based paints for the Xpan ( environmental concern?). And they got it spectacularly wrong - about the only thing they got wrong on the camera, other than the pricing :D:D.

I think eventually they will all go shiny titanium colour....

300 :D Would none of the Russian cases fit? Just how wide is the xPan?

It might fit the length, but the the case will be too high.

Imagine a Leica M or a Contax II and extend the length by 30%, but the height remains the same. Thats the rough size

Ah. No scissors/sharp things down South then? what about the early Zorki/FED's? they were/are very short.

Bit of a brick then... measure it for me?

hmm. my zorki case is 155mm along the top so close...

They are very very very nice

I didn't even bother checking the price

I just did check the price 260Eur = £215

Just how expensive is the Hasselblad version?

I think it's 260Eu for the case and another 30Eu for the strap! with shipping call it 300 :cuckoo:

At that price, I'm pretty sure that a local saddlery company could probably custom make one for less!

time to sell off my xpan; its getting out of hand :D

Actually BigYin's suggestion is a good one, I'll try to get one custom made in India....
