Does anyone know of software that will select cropped images only.

To explain: If there are 200 photos to be edited - start and just crop the photos of choice then "select cropped only" and then be able to move,email,file them? Thanks.

Wouldn't it be easier to assign a rating e.g. 1 star, 2 star to the photos then filter the images by the stars to select the ones you want. LR and most applications support this type of assignment in some form or another.

I keep my workflow very simple:

* - Keeper
** - Needs reviewing with a view to edit or simply make as a final *** image
*** - Final

I realise that it is possible to tag or rate photos but I will only use the ones I crop so it would be faster to just have software that had select cropped only.No tagging or rating to remember just crop and select.One thing less to go wrong.Speed is the requirement.

If this is sports photography then you only need look at Photomechanic, and any sports photographer to has written down a workflow, to see that it is usually done as suggested by "locking" in camera and then rating, or assigning a colour with a single keystroke and then filtering. That way you can also know what you selected (and may have already sent) pre-match, first 20 mins, first half, second half, secondary edit post match.

Your statement would suggest that you never correctly compose an image into the full-frame that you would wish to send.....

You could do it in Lightroom with a Smart Collection. One of the options is Width or Height etc (in the size section). Just set it to the appropriate value. EG if your uncropped images are say 3000 pixels wide then set the option to "is less than 3000". There are quite a few options available under Size including some which say ....uncropped. Haven't had a look at what the options are for those but have a play and see what results you get.

And if you are using two different bodies / MP counts ?

I am using PM for sports and have used it to ingest say 20 locked photos.Then I view and as I do I crop say six of them.I then just want to have a "select cropped photos only" so I can then just transmit. I suppose it only means I have to tag the cropped photos.It's OK if it's a small amount but I would have liked PM to have that facility as I forget to tag the crops sometimes.

Use multiple criteria in the filter, one with the uncropped size AND the other with crop. Create another smart collection with the sizes from the other body.

While PM5 doesn't allow you to select cropped images, you can sort the images by {hascrop}.

This would allow you to sort all the cropped images to the top of the contact sheet, which would make them extremely easy to find and select.

No, but it selects files on the basis of the last time any alteration was made: modified. As this will be later than the date taken, you'll get the cropped shots.

Exactly what I do in Lightroom. Works a treat.
