Great a Friday evening game, I might well go to that !

If I remember correctly there flood lights ar'nt to brilliant !!

I may well see you there, probably without my camera as I dont know if I would be allowed on the pitch as I am just an enthusiastic amateur ! May well look into that.

Im at Headingley on Friday night for the Super League play off semi final then in Warrington all day sunday for the 3 Championship Grand Finals

Pontypridd have got Cardiff at home in the B&I cup on Friday evening !

It should be a good game, a local derby, I cant go myself as I will be driving up to Nottingham visiting my son for the weekend
 
England v New Zealand on Saturday followed by England Ladies v NZ Black Ferns which I'm looking forward to rather more than I probably should :-)

Think I'll shoot from the west side with a good view of Mr Johnson and his last match as manager. I'm hoping for a dramatic sunset which would be a nice metaphor but I see it's forecast to chuck it down with heavy rain.
 
Hi all, I'm only a supporter taking pictures when at the Rugby, but I am most definitely passionate about the Rugby (union I'm afraid as I do note a splendid following of league within this thread). As I follow Gloucester all my photos to date reside here (apologies for the quality, but I'm now on a learning curve!):

I do intend to improve now I have moved to a DSLR but have yet been able to make a game with my new camera! I do intend to get back out to grass roots as well to get some pitch level shots.
 
Doncaster vs Ayr at Castle Park this afternoon. Should be an interesting match.
 
Having a rest this weekend. Barbarians v All Blacks next weekend though.
 
should (fingers crossed) finally be covering some rugby in the new year :)

Our game did go ahead but the conditions were atrocious with heavy driving rain in the first half and a hail storm in the second and to cap it all we lost to a team in a lower league, not a good evening all round, score was Bridgend 0 Maesteg 13

Good grief...I recognise half these names! Good mix of RL and RU on here, plus some guys from near me (hooray!)

I have a weekend off this weekend after doing 3 Wales Ints in Cardiff and before 2 weekends of Heineken Cup before xmas.

Photoden, do you get to the Crusaders games much? I was at 3 last year, Hull FC, Wigan and St Helens...awful awful lights you've got at Brewery Field!!! I never thought i'd say it, but I'll be happy to go to Rodney Parade for them next year.

Hi James, I occasionally go to the Crusaders games but only as a spectator and to be honest only because its local.

You are quite right in what you say about the lights, although they have supposedly been uprated !! But having done the game last Friday evening and having to shoot at ISO6400 to get any reasonable shots I find it hard to believe !
I too have a Mk2n but dare not use it under the lights as its ISO is just not high enough, so I can see that you would struggle, which is why I bought the 50D.

Enjoy your weekend off, I have to go across to west Wales to shoot our game on Saturday, am praying that the weather improves !!

Ah, nothing like december in Wales to photograph rugby! Reminds me why I bought a lens-cape. I'll try and enjoy my weekend, but I'm heading to Fixation in London to see if my 1d and 400 need calibrating...they seemed a touch soft at the weekend so we shall see!
 
On here as well James? Wish I didn't have to do my day job this Sat but its a cash job so will go towards my next lens. Mind its the rugby boys Xmas pub crawl this weekend and I'm invited think I will be feeling rough on sunday.

First outing with my DSLR, lens shown to be woefully lacking in the poor light and rain! A few I still like though, nice and noisy but I kinda like it!

Looked at your Falcons game jj on flickr they look ok. What lens was it you used & which lens are you selling a Kidney for to buy. I was at the Knights game trying to get some desent running action but it was hard work at times. Photo on picasa website.
