Yes
Our neighbour reported some weird goings on the other night in our road so I took this as an excuse to buy a Ring camera :) Played with it at the weekend and it seems great however I have a weird issue with it. It only detects people leaving the property not arriving.

More detail.....

Camera is on the front corner of the garage about 7 feet in the air and has an unobstructed view of the drive and front garden. House door is out of sight to the right of the camera. If you leave the house it spots you and records what's going on. If you enter the drive by the exact same route it doesn't notice. Sensitivity is set to max and the detection zone is full camera view. It will also detect people walking along the road from left to right but I've never seen it capture somebody from right to left.

Any ideas? Because it looks like it wouldn't capture somebody coming onto the drive and, you know, breaking into the house.....

Ah that sort of fits the pattern. Makes them a bit useless though.....

I have a wired cctv system that is always pre-recording so if anything happens the prior 5seconds (or it can be set to 10seconds) is recorded too.

Yes. That's just one of the ways ring could fix this. That would take more power of course.

Just checked and it's 65. That seems bad.
I have two at the front one is at 55 and the other at 65, but have not noticed this issue on the one at 65.

Have you tried contacting Ring, they are helping in troubleshooting the issue.

What you’re after is a feature called Pre-roll, so the camera recording clip includes the moments before the motion detection occurred, because of the power overhead this is usually limited to the hard-wired cameras and doorbells.

This was my biggest issue with my Gen 1 Ring Doorbell, I’ve now changed it to the Doorbell Pro 2 and pre-roll makes the video clips make so much more sense.

I’ve been a ring user for the last 7+ years and have the alarm, doorbell and spotlight so happy to help if I can
