Hi all

I am in the market for a new monitor. Does anyone have any recommendations on what to get.

Ideally I would like a 24", 1920x1200 resolution and hdmi input.
Colour reproduction is important for my photography and also digital illustration.

The Dell UltraSharp U2410 24" is top of my list at the mo but at a hefty price at £528.

What do you guys use monitor wise, any good cheaper alternatives to the dell much appreciated.

Thanks

Martin

I too was looking at the Dell, but then I came accross the HP LP2475w. It a 24 inch IPS panel with 1920x1200 resolution.
It gets excelent reviews, and can be had off ebay for cheaper than the dell models. My wife bought me it for Xmas, although I started using it in November. Once calibrated, its excelent, bright and sharp. It also has loads more connectivity than the Dells, and all the cables come included. The stand is easy to adjust and the monitor goes into portrait mode. Here are some reviews, certainly worth considering.

I don't know about cheaper alternatives but I bought the Dell UltraSharp U2410 24 a couple of months ago and it is superb. I calibrate it with eye one display 2 and it is bang on.

U2410, have a look on ebay. The HP is good but the colour gamut and overall reprodcutions on the dell is better.

I have an HP2475. I looked at the Dell Ultrasharps at the time but they seemed to have many issues with pink tinges etc- whether these are now solved I don't know.

I'm happy with mine- was actually looking for an additional monitor today and thought technology would have moved on considerably but it doesn't seem to have changed. The HP still seems to be up there although it has gone up by £100:eek:

You could look at some of the NEC monitors- some favourable reviews. eg NEC Multi Synch 2490

Thanks for the replies guys.

I think that I will take a chance with the dell.
