Getting my kitchen refitted soon and will need some plumbing work done too.

The location on my mains stopcock valve is in a awkward place so I want to get it moved to a more easily accessible position. I've been looking at these remote stopcock valves for example something along the lines of this >> http://www.screwfix.com/p/surestop-...msD8o9FxU9sXPHBMvKRCcPQQ9tLdwmOoCFhoCghPw_wcB

Anyone had any experience of the or can offer pro's & cons on the item?

Thanks

They are ok, but if you are having a new kitchen fitted surely that means a new stopckcock can be fitted anywhere.

I fitted one myself. Fairly straight forward. I think there's 2 versions. I got the one that could replace the stopcock, and can be left turned off if required. I still kept the stopcock as well. Check the size you need, as I ordered the wrong size at first.
No issues at all. My son and my monster in law have them too.

Just refitted a bathroom and needed to turn the water off to work on the plumbing. They had one of these fitted - I had to use the original stop cock.

That's odd. Mines works perfectly. So does my sons and mother in laws. Perhaps it wasn't fitted properly.

It was fitted properly. It stopped working ( a month or so ago), apparently, about 6 months after it was fitted by a qualified plumber.

This is my only experience of one.

To be fair, stop cocks fail, or partially fail, all the time.Probably about 1 in 3 that I come across. I sometimes have to turn the water off in the street until I can get isolators fitted.

We have fitted 2 of them and both have failed within a few months,

I would personally get it moved may cost a few quid more but worth it imo

Make sure you connect the main earthbond again for safety in the new stop cock position

Thank for the replies folks, I won't be doing the job, it will be a plumber. Maybe just go for relocating the brass stopcock valve instead of the remote type after reading of others experiences with remotes.
